That's a completely illogical statement. If you nicked it without knowing, by definition you couldn't know that you'd nicked it.

The only time that you might not know is if you also hit the ground with the toe of the bat as you played at the ball - but even then you've normally got a pretty good idea; and if a batsman looks back at the keeper as the ball goes through then it's a pretty good indication that he's nicked it - it's instinctive

It's the same with fielders not knowing whether they took the ball on the bounce or not. You can feel by the way the ball come into your hand whether it's coming up into it or fallen in. With keepers who are wearing gloves it's different - you largely lose that feel; but with the bare hand you can tell.

Just think a draw is more likely result even if we took quick wickets its more likely Aussies will dig in somewhere down the order to frustrate us

At lunch on the final day Australia have taken their overnight 103/2 to 178/4. Not a bad morning for England, and although Australia are now ahead it's only a lead of 14, but Smith is still there. There are some dark clouds around the ground though, so the Melbourne weather might be the winner in the end.
