England team news, Anderson returns in place of Jamie Overton, & Billings starts, as Foakes is still not 100%.

I know Jimmy had to come in but that tail looks so long again!

Also I don’t think Billings is anything special, especially in longer form cricket. I would’ve been tempted to go with Bracey or Jamie Smith

This feels a lot like it is, a coffer builder, and an addendum (without the benefit), than a necessary contest. After the lord mayors show (the one - off Women's Test match)

No disrespect to the Kiwi's, but India must surly be the best Test team. New Zealand punch above their weight. India has a massive population, with an obsession for the game, & with Kohli, Pant, Jadeja, & Bumrah, they possess more Superstar gamechangers, than the workmanlike New Zealand side.
The Rohit & Rahul opening partnership, is a big loss, & played a massive part in India taking a 2-1 series lead.

Stokes got a taste of his own medicine, as Pant took the game away from England. He was slow to react, & attacked for too long. The old Pant would often get himself out, but he is showing signs of maturity in recent times. Over attacking a batsman of this type is surely playing into his hands. Yes he is hard to tie down, but, that tactic wasn't tried early in his innings before he got in. Off[spinner & 2 left-handers is a perfect match-up, Root should've been bowled much sooner.
But, sometimes, batsmen just play well.
