Ashes series 2015

Nobody in that series came away with much credit, but on the occasions i have had chance to watch carberry play his technique has looked flawed. His temperament is also suspect and of course his age is a factor, England are better off going with a young player who can be nurtured and developed.

I would go Hales. The idea of moving Root to 3 is tempting, but he is going so well at 5, i would not want to disturb that.

The last time Root was moved up the order it was to open and it was a disaster, he has done really well to comeback as strongly as he has. I personally would leave him at five and use a specialist opener, there is no point in weakening the middle-lower order, they are performing reasonably well at the moment.

Don't forget that Moeen Ali is an opening batsman, even if he's been put low down in the order for now. Other than him, the next opener in contention is supposed to be Sam Robson.

I think maybe we should compare opening batsmen averages at present to determine who we think should get the opening slot with Cook....

Test match cricket is coming under threat from 20/20 yet they still short change the public. The use to play 90 overs per day or till 7.00pm what ever came last. Now they go off at 6.30pm regardless. Should test match cricket survive it will be despite how they treat the fans not because of.

Back to the matter in hand. I can see this match going down same road as the 2009 test played here. A one sided draw is probably best we can hope for

A knock to the crown jewels is something I have never seen any bloke respond stoically to. I have seen men try and run Off a broken leg, I have seen someone complete a marathon having suffered a broken femur and I have seen a boxer go 12 rounds after breaking their jaw in the first. However I don't know anyone that has not gone down like they have been shot, crying with pain when taking a knock in the privates region. It's also one of those things that is hilarious when it happens to everyone apart from the poor sod that it has been inflicted upon.
