avatar. anyone actually think it looks good?

it looks like a well rendered cgi film to me. i think the hype is bollocks. when you consider his last film was titanic which was a massive achievement in proper filmmaking and had some truly realistic effects (the cgi people looked crap from the second you could spot them so i will ignore them) and while the dialogue was bad i think you could easily believe in the film.

i want to know what trailer everyone was blown away by because i guess it was different to this one

It's based on a book. I think it looks good. One to watch when it's out.

its probably an 80s thing but i prefer puppets and models to cgi. if they did the mupets or sesame street now they would probably by cgi. i think it makes a difference when you know the creatures actually exist. sure they are operated by people but they still actual physical things.

cgi can be good in some cases. lord of the rings for example. even now its hard to tell how they did alot of the scenes in them films.

Cgi is good for sci-fi stuff but for horror its shit like you say it makes a difference when you know the creatures actually exist
