RE: Ireland v France
So does this mean that England will go into the second pot for the WC draw?

Looks like we'll be in pot 1.

As for the wider issue, as long as FIFA is controlled by that idiot Blatter, they won't introduce technology into the game. As for Platini, I'm amazed he hasn't used the Henry incident to further champion his preferred solution of the extra official behind the goal - especially given the knock it received after the Fulham game a few weeks back.
It would be nice to see Henry banned for the first two or three games of the World Cup to show that there are at least some consequences to such blatant cheating, but I can't see it happening. His apology and suggestion of a replay (handily released shortly after FIFA had completely ruled it out) will be seen as enough.
Did anybody else stare in blank amazement at Roy Keane's press conference yesterday? He told the Irish to "get over it" while yet again attacking the FAI over their behaviour at the 2002 WC. And this is the same man who waited several years to get revenge on Alf-Inge Haaland by finishing his career. He really is in his own little world.

I don't know where you magic pixies came from, but I like your pixie drink!

Keano is a legend
if you listen to the interveiw he does have some good points to make.what the hell was mcshane doing,ya dont let the ball bonce in your own six yard box let alone let Henry get goalside of you, that lads is a liability, the fact henry handled the ball is meaningless,if he cleared the ball the goal wouldnt of been scored.we should have scored the 2 goals we had more than enough chances, france were very poor over the two legs and really we should have won the tie.

as far as his coments about the FAi,hes compleatly on the money two, they are a bunch of idiots and delaney is the bigest muppet out of the lot of them.
thier wasnt a hope in hell of getting a replay, and the people asking for one was madness.
no point feeling sorry for ourselves, were not the first and wont be the last team to be affected by bad officials

RE: Ireland v France
The most worrying thing about this now is the fact that with Henry last weekend and Ngog and Bent the week before as well as countless other examples before you have players who have clearly been seen by everyone to have dleiberately cheated and yet no-one is prepared to punish them for it.Ngog and Bent were back playing for their teams this week as if nothing has happened and you can guarantee Henry will be at the next French game.
Is it any wonder that the majority of players are at it when they know that even if there are cameras at every ground to catch their actions and everyone will be able to see what they get up to, all that will happen is all the pundits will say "tut tut how terrible" but no action will be taken and they will be back doing it again next game.Until someone in authority grows some balls and stands up to the cheats and start handing out match bans it will merely continue and grow.

1974, 1978, 1994(a tournament that Ireland got to the quarter finals of)? Not to mention our failure to qualify for the last european championships. Or the fact that we (as one of the 'big teams') have only got to two semi-finals in since 1966 and one of those was on our own soil. Real England fans take nothing for granted. In fact we're normally playing against the referee and eufa/fifa just like the rest of you.
