Hardly, I think we could have benefitted hugely from a more difficult group. USA are good and I was quite happy when they came out in our group, but I think if a team is to go far in a World Cup, they need to acclimatise to playing against the great teams, that way the standard of play is maintained for the later rounds.

Italy have the biggest problem, shooting practise against New Zealand is very poor preparation for a knockout phase, which for them would contain Holland, Denmark, Cameroon or Japan!

So, everyone English? No, not me at least, I hope we can win, but more importantly, I just hope we can play a few decent games of football against some great teams, and give the country something to be chirpy about for a change.

I think the Algeria game could be the potential banana skin for us. It's in Africa and they would be used to the heat. I dont think the USA game will be that easy. They are quite a tough athletic physical well organised side who did very well in the confederation cup. Also they have quite a few players who play in the premiership so know how we play.

I think you wil find talking big and failing to deliver is the Scottish prerogative see their football song in 78 about when we win the world cup, and failing to get out of the group stage.

England's group is so easy that even Steve McClaren couldn't fuck it up.
