FA Cup

Believe me I'm not the only one. As I've said before on this forum, and the argument went on for days - it can only be good for english football and in particular it's long term future if spanners get thrown in the works. Man city, tottenham and aston villa can only blame themselves if they don't win something this year or at least break the usual top four apart.

As for Ferguson, if he goes this year then history will still be kind to him, the longer he goes on the stupider he's going to sound (although Wenger and Benitez do give him a run for his money). It's becoming increasingly the alex ferguson show where he says he wants to win more titles than liverpool, more european cups than liverpool. What he fails to grasp is that he'll never win them with the humility of bob paisley.

Well said m100. As a city stalwart, I have to say I am pleased he is staying on as he seems to be losing the plot. More and more Utd fans are questioning his tactics and judgement.
The only problem for us is that he will play a stronger side on Wed now.

As a man utd fan (for 35 years) can I say that the only thing that is insulting is Ferguson's contempt for other teams. Yes he's won us a load of trophies but at the same time he has cost us almost as many by fielding poor sides against opposition who he thought we only had to turn up to beat and who grasped the chance when faced with 50% of the reserves. He obviously thought leeds were going to roll over the second the saw a red shirt whereas they gave it a go from the start and look where it got them. There are many teams who come to old trafford and are beaten before they get off the bus (wolves, anyone) but every now and then he gets shown up for what he is. His remarks about injury time, referees etc are becoming both increasingly erratic and embarrassing and in serious danger of casting a shadow over what should be considered one of the great managerial achievements. With the prospect of Mourinho becoming available there must be thoughts that his time is up and he should (although he won't) call it a day this season.

Totally agree m100 and think how embarrassed and humiliated i was the other week, i'm a Wolves fan.

I can't wait to see if he does because the other day he said he was going to put out a strong team against leeds but the usual second string against city. So it will show how hypocritical he is. It will also be an indication that the league cup is all he expects to win this season and again as he said the other day you should be glad to win one trophy! My problem is that I've been saying this about him for at least four years. To which others have said but we won the champions league two seasons ago - don't think they noticed John terry falling flat on his arse.

As for wolves - I was shocked at what they did but more shocked that Roy Keane hasn't come out and said now that is what I meant about McCarthy.

Actually Roy Keane came out and defended him.

I must have missed that. In which case he's as two faced as the rest of them. What's the point in saying you're in a team with a small team outlook and then a few years later defending the same manager showing the same principle.

At least man utd had the saving grace of a historical rivalry with leeds what Liverpool's excuse is is anyone's guess.

How is having a historic rivalry a saving grace, that is a very poor excuse for being knocked out by a third division side.

Liverpool and Man Utd both got knocked out because they played disgracefully.

No f**king excuses are acceptable, especially that historic rivalry s**t!
