Freesat - babeshows
Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, but when I search it brings up lots of info but across various threads/forums and may not be current - but I'm trying to find out which of the babe shows can be received through a Freesat receiver.

I've read that the Freesat package isn't even as good as the Freeview package, so can you get the 3(4) bs channels & Honey later?

But I've also read that some Freesat receivers can be manually tuned to pick up all sky free-to-air channels? The Humax Foxsat was the model suggested... but does that mean all of the babeshows on sky and does it work with other models?

And is it legal - or like chipped boxes etc

Also, while I'm asking, do I need a usb 'transfer cable' to download from +box to pc/harddrive?

I need to do something so any advice appreciated.

thanks

RE: Freesat - babeshows
Nearly all the babechannels can be received on a free to air receiver. I say nearly all because you need a Sky card to get channel 5, 5*, Sky 3 etc on FREEVIEW (which is not quite the same as FTA) the same applies with a few of the 900 channels (you cannot get Elite on ch 900 on a FTA for example but you can get 914 amd 965).

There is nothing illegal in manually tuning extra free to air channels and you need no extra equipment - it's no different to tuning a radio. Sky simply design their equipment to default to the part of the tuner that the Sky packages and EPG channels inhabit and hope you won't notice that other stuff is further up the dial! (ITV 4+1 and ITV regions other than your own can be tuned in in this way). All you need is their frequency details, polarity, symbol rate and FEC.

Unfortunately it's after 9.00pm so I can't do a full check for you tonight as the porn channels have opened up and some of them are shared frequencies, but if I get a chance I'll do it tomorrow. You can certainly get 3 BS, 3 RLC, 2 Honey, 2 Elite, Sportxxx, 40+, the channel that we do not mention, Asian Babes and, of course Club Bob.

The USB question isn't my field - one of the cappers could help you there.

Sky boxes automatically update but some non-Sky boxes (and certainly FTA receivers) have to be manually scanned periodically for get all current channels and I think RLC relocated one of their channels after the demise of BB. On my FTA I can get all three on transponder 11390 Vertical 27500 2/3 (Jenna is currently on Sky 902, and two daygirls I don't know, a blonde on 911 and a short dark haired girl on 948)

RE: Babeshows On Freesat
Thanks for the info mr williams- looks like thats the way to go.

But reading some of the previous posts there seems to be (or has been) a difference between 'sky' freesat / 'normal' freesat & FTA receivers... assuming that any sky box would have to come from sky, does this mean I'm good to go with a 'normal' freesat box like the Humax (or any other - Sagem, Goodman etc) and can tune it through a sky dish?

Also, how do I find out the frequency details, polarity, symbol rate and FEC - or am I being dim again and you've already given it (ie transponder 11390 Vertical 27500 2/3)

I know I'm a technophobe and get confused with the jargon but I have to do something as ripoffsky are a waste of space, virgin has no babechannels, freeview is restricted (time & channels) and I've eventually given up on the webstreams - how they seriously expect viewers to pay for a call while watching such shit quality is beyond me - even channels that are only on the web...

many thanks for your help

OK let's go through it:

first of all, do you already have a satellite dish/feed coming into your home, and do you already have a satellite receiver of some kind?

Yes and no:
I'm in a flat & a Sky dish was installed last year. I ordered sky but after 4 attempts to install they gave up as there was a problem with the dish - I'm assured this has been realigned and is now working.
As the install was never completed, I've never had a 'satellite' receiver.

I also have virgin (much better broadband than sky or bt) but actually use the freeview in my tv to watch tv normally. I have the tv connected to the 'normal' tv socket in the sky faceplate (not virgin)...

OK, so there is a dish on the wall/roof but no cable connected running into your flat?

Do you share the dish with other flats? Do they have a feed going into theirs?

Yes the dish is shared - but the cabling is connected to my flat & the faceplate works (well, freeview works)...
When I originally tried to get sky, it was all set up but when they plugged their box in, there was no signal - several visits later they decided to pass back to the 'dish' company, who assure me it was fixed & others in the block are receiving sky.
(Sky don't do blocks - they subcontracted to SCCI for the dish & Love Digital for the box - both complete waste of space who I think have gone bust now, as when I spoke to sky yesterday, they offered a company called FutureTV).

So, there is a sky dish, and a sky signal is being delivered to other flats, the cabling should be in place to my flat and I use the 'normal' aerial socket in the sky faceplate for my freeview (so assume it is connected)...

RE: Babeshows On Freesat
what a small world! I know the owner of future tv - he put my first system in more than 15 years ago when he worked for somebody else!!!

OK, if you have a working feed coming in I have good news for you. You don't need freesat, you don't need to pay anybody to come in and you can do it yourself for less than £50.

Unfortunately I have to go to a client meeting this afternoon but should be back by 6-ish so I'll pick this up from there.

If the mods don't mind, I'll keep this in the thread rather than go to PMs as the techy info might be useful for others in the same situation.

EDIT - sorry, had to finish off an RFP, will try and do it tomorrow morning!
