RE: Aaron Ramsey
I had the game on my tv last night, but missed the incident. Sky wouldn't show it again, but i saw it on the BBC this morning.

It's one of those..... You want to see it to see what all the fuss is about but once you have seen it, you wish you hadn't. Looked horrible, a terrible shame for Ramsey who looks a real prospect. Don't think that it was deliberate though, Shawcross looked completely devastated afterwards. Though it's true what Wenger says, teams ARE more physical against Arsenal because they see it as their weakness. I rarely agree with Wenger, but he does have a point this time.

RE: Aaron Ramsey
I dont think Arsene Wenger has a point this time at all...He seems to think the other teams in the Premier League all conspire to chop down his players down at every opportunity, thats not the case at all...In fact he should maybe take a look at his own sides disciplinary record since he took charge.

What happened to Aaron Ramsay was a horrific thing to witness and of course i hope he recovers quickly but Arsene Wenger is way too quick to make a villain out of Ryan Shawcross. I have now seen the tackle about 15 or 20 times and it has happened because Ramsay was just that tiny bit quicker to the ball...His studs werent showing, he took a swing at the ball and Ramsay nicked it off him, simple as that. Anyone who's played football at any level knows that occasionally things like this happen.

Wenger made even stronger statements when Eduardo got injured against Birmingham City, he villified the Blues player on that occasion for what was a "clumsy" challenge. Again i didnt think there was any malice in his intentions it was just mis-timed.

What i find amusing is how quickly Wenger reacts to these situations and "injustices" etc but if the boot is on the other foot "I didnt see it"...The guy is actually starting to become the first four letters of his name!!!!

Sorry for the rant...

Aaron Ramsay is a great young prospect and I just hope that he can overcome his injury soon!!!

RE: Aaron Ramsey
I watched the game live and when the incident happened, I didn't even think it was a foul. After watching it a few times I think the decision to send Shawcroft off was a farce. It was a good strong challenge, possible a bit late but no way was it intended to injure Ramsey.
It is an awful injury and you can only feel sorry for him and any decent football fan will wish him well.
Wenger, maybe understandably, had his little rant. i only hope he realises he was wrong about what he said. I don't think that teams are massively more physical against Arsenal. I have watched them play against my team (Man City) loads of times, home and away, and they are no angels.
But, bottom line, speedy recevery to Aaron Ramsey and good luck to Shawcroft with his possible England career.

I won't debate the Ramsay incident with you, because i've only seen it the once and for me that was more than enough, my stomach obviously isn't as strong as yours Wink Like you though (and as i've already said) i'm sure that it wasn't deliberate.

But as much as i agree with you that Wenger normally talks out of his hat, it's a fact that teams are more physical when they play Arsenal. Going back even as far as "the invincibles" team a few years back, Utd broke their unbeaten run at Old Trafford by pretty much just bullying them out of the game. These days EVERYONE knows it's the way to beat Arsenal, very few (if anyone at all) can match their football, but if you "get into 'em" they are far more likely to crumble. It's how my team (Chelsea) beat them more often than not, usually for the first 1/2hr we can't get the bloody ball off them, but eventually we're just too powerful, to the point where by the end of the game it's almost embarassing.

They've had their share of "bad boys" too, no doubt, but without a doubt a bad boy's what they lack now. Wenger's moaning about it now won't help at all, (especially when you've had Patrick Vieira playing for you, people have long memories in football) but you can't deny that the rest of the Premiership see them as "a bit milky" these days and it's usually how they get beaten.

Wenger, who is a good manager, needs to do something about this then. Playing Bendtner always gives them more bite. The side he put out yesterday was a moor physical side and did a good job. They are a great footballing side but its not good enough if you can't force a win, as this is after all the point of playing in the Premier league. I am sure any Arsenal fan would rather lose a bit of style and get more susbstance and maybe win the league.

And anyway Astonv1, haven't you got something slightly more important to do today than rant on a forum? Big Grin

The poor boy, I really hope he recovers because he is a fantastic talent. Sad

This is heartbreaking, I cried a river yesterday when I saw the injury, it looked horrific, and I'm not even an Arsenal fan or Welsh. Its so sad to see a player with so much talent get injured like this at such a young age. SadSadSadSad

All the very best Aaron.

RE: Aaron Ramsey
I think aaron was almost guaranteed every young player of the year award and I hope he still gets them. As someone else said and I've said it myself in the other football thread teams are more physical against arsenal because it is their weakness - they weren't as physical when arsenal had viera etc. However there are massive differences between going in strong or intimidation and deliberately setting out to injure a player. There is no way shawcross set out to injure ramsey and wenger needs to stop these accusations - why he hasn't been charged with bringing the game into disrepute is a mystery to me because he is attacking a professionals reputation which is the same as an accusation of cheating. As astonv1 says he doesn't see it when it's his own players eg gallas' stamp. Also as i've said before i'd be more worried about how many injuries arsenal players pick up in training.
