RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
Highly recommend John Carpenter's The Thing(1982)

I bought the 35th anniversary edition from Sainsbury's for £15.

Finally getting the 4K treatment featuring a full restoration of the original negative under the supervision of John Carpenter and long term director of photography Dean Cundey.Rob Bottin's ground breaking live action creations look even more frighteningly stunning.

Another addition to the release is the film has been presented in its original aspect ratio of 2.35:1,all previous wide-screen vhs, laser disc,DVD/blu ray versions were presented in a formatted version of that ratio. The audio has also been restored remastered in a 4.1,2.0 and a 5.1 DTS-HD for the viewers preference.

Extras :

All the extras from the laser disc/DVD special editions have been incorporated as well as a selection of new material included.

A new commentary from podcasters Mike White,Patrick Bromley and El Goro
Who Goes There? In Search Of The Thing(documentary)
1982 : One Amazing Summer(documentary about the big films of that year)
35th anniversary panel at the 2017 Texas Frightmare Weekend
The Thing : 27,000 Hours(short film by Sean Hogan)
Fan featurettes from http://www.outpost31.com
Collectable booklet
Reversible sleeve

Note

Allthough the new extras are excellent I was slightly disappointed by the lack of new contributions from John Carpenter.

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
I highly recommend Spider-Man Homecoming I picked up the HMV Exclusive Steel Book right out the steel book is stunning not only stunning art work on the front and back but the inside too if you look T the images below. Where it gets a extra tick for being a fantastic steel book is it has a shiny gloss finish am very impressed.
The picture quality has a fantastic transfer and it’s crystal clear you would expect this from Sony and 1080p transfer. The colours pop off the screen and dark colours and tones look equally as impressive.
Sound quality wise it’s fantastic a 5.1/7.1 DTS-HD transfer if you have a home cinema set up you’ll get the best out of it.
There’s over 60 mins worth of extras:

10 Deleted & Extended Scenes.
Cast Gag Reel.
The Spidey Study Guide: A pop-up FactDiD Track.
Unseen Alteenate Captain America PSAs.
Aftermath: Filmmakers Bridge The Gap From The Battle of New York.
A Tangled Web: Spider-Man’s Integration Into The Marvel Cinematic Universe.
And More.

Plus you get a digital copy of the movie.
Now you get three discs which have three different versions of the film, you get a 4K Ultra HD version on one disc, The normal blu ray on the second disc and the third disc is the 3D version of the movie well worth it and you get comic with the steel book too

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
Carnival Of Souls(1962)

Bought this classic from Yorkshire Trading for £6.

Herk Harvey's masterful piece of work was made in three weeks,by a crew of six for just over thirty grand and yet it went on to inspire the films of George Romero abs David Lynch.
Creepily shot in black and white, the story follows Mary as she survives a car crash, finds employment as a church organist and then becomes inexplicably drawn to a lakeside pavilion. The acting is pretty amateurish but it somehow adds to the spooky atmosphere.

Extras :

Commentary
Documentaries
Deleted scenes
Video essay

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
Grabbed some essential purchases today from a Christmas market not far from where I live.

The Party(1968)only £6.

A cult comedy from Blake Edwards and starring Peter Sellers. The film delves into the Hollywood scene of drunks, racism and sex pest producers so it's more apt now than ever.Funny that it was a total flop on its original release.

Extras :

Featurettes
Profiles

The Wages of Fear(1953)

Got this one for a fiver!

A really suspenseful kind of action/noir following four desperate mercs who transport volatile nitro glycerine aross the South American Jungle to put out an oil well fire for the hefty price of $2000 each.Bleak, well acted and brilliantly directed by Georges Clouzot.

Extras :

Audio commentary
Interviews
Essay booklet

Miracle Mile(1988)

Cracking bargain at £8.

Another flop on initial release but more scary and plausible now than its ever been.Starts off as just a cheesy 80s romance until the guy intercepts a call that announces that a nuclear armageddon is imminent. With wonderful performances from Anthony Edwards and Mare Winningham.

Extras :

Audio commentaries
Featurettes
Alternate ending

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
I bought Terminator 2 : Judgement Day(1991)on 4k UHD from Granger Games this morning for £12.

Fantastic film obviously that most people will have seen so I'll just talk about the exquisite 4k restoration that makes one of the best sci-fi films ever made even betterSmile
Extras wise,a new 55 minute documentary is added to the rolled over features from previous releases.Essential purchase if you're a fan of the franchise before it was ruined by the ridiculous sequels.

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
Got Stranger Things Season 1 : Collector's Edition(2016)from target.com for £20.

Wonderful series with a great blu ray transfer with all the discs presented in a tattered vhs style box which looks greatSmile
However I was disappointed by the lack of significant extras.

Also picked up The Agatha Christie Movies(174-1982) boxset from a market in Leeds for £25.

Films :

The original Orient(1974)8/10 which is the best of the lot

Death On The Nile(1978)7/10

Evil Under The Sun(1982)6.5/10

The Mirror Cracked(1984)6/10

Decent performances throughout by the likes of Albert Finney,Peter Ustinov and Angela Landsbury but the quality decreases as they go along.

Extras :

Featurettes
Interviews
Galleries

All on each film.
