RE: Snooker, in Trouble
With John Higgins case, the paper involved were found to have cleverly edited the tape to make Higgins look guilty as when the full unedited tape was shown it backed up Higgins version of events.

So you don't think there was anything dodgy with the Higgins case?

Even the News of the World admitted there was no evidence that Higgins intended to fix matches. They also admitted that Higgins knew nothing about the content of the taped meeting beforehand and also that they edited and rearranged the material of that 11 minute meeting before publishing it.

The police have also said that study of the evidence points to Higgins being innocent and that they are sure the investigating tribunal made the right decision to acquit him. Particularly telling was footage of Higgins walking into the meeting and being told ‘by the way, they may bring up throwing a few frames, just go along with it’.

Whenever there is gambling involved then all sports will susceptible to bribery and corruption, the temptation to lose a couple of frames in exchange for thousands of untaxed pounds must be great, especially for some of those outside the top 20 or 30 who probably only just scrape a living from the game.

Lee's banned until October 2024, but that'll get changed on appeal, I bet.

Once a player has been found guilty of match fixing, could he ever be trusted again if he returned? Don't think so. Should be kicked out of the sport for life, and the same for drug cheats in all sports IMO

Cao Yupeng and Yu Delu have been suspended over match-fixing allegations.

And Ronnie's not impressed. With the suspension:

Jamie Jones has been suspended now as part of the same suspected match-fixing case investigation that saw David John getting dealt with.

They've got proper bollocked; multi-year banning Rolleyes

Stuart Bingham, who served a 3 month suspension last season, said the other day that it wasn't the fault of having so many betting sponsors, or the Big Boss being part of a betting company Rolleyes

What Willie "life ruined by gambling" Thorne makes of it, let alone any of the other casualties, is anyone's guess.

Ronnie presumably finks they were innocent as whilst rumbling about his plans for a breakaway league, he suggested that along with an out-of-retirement Stephen Hendry, and himself of course, these 2 lads would be included.
