Posting Spoilers!

Due to complaints received about show spoilers, Skateguy has found a handy code for hiding them.

Spoiler
Your spoiler text here

(retrive code in reply)

This way you can still post a spoiler (if you feel the need to), but won't ruin a show for the other forum members.

Remember, some people actually wait until a show is aired in the UK (on Freeview as well as Sky).

Posts that don't use this code and contain show spoilers will be edited/removed from this point on!

It would also be sensible when posting a spoiler to i.d. the specific Season & Episode Name/Number that the spoiler relates to - that way people can easily identify whether they can want to view the spoiler or not.

Also, in case anyone wonders what the hell the black patch is and how you're supposed to see the spoiler, just highlight the black area with your cursor and the spoiler becomes visible.

i.e.

Spoiler Text

thats great. will it be retroactively applied as technically the whole smallville season 9 thread is spoilers for the UK as all the videos posted by kalel and comments made by me, him and the others relate to stuff not seen....

Also is there a way where the spoiler code can be done automatcially, like clicking a button where the smileys are?

The forum admin's looking at adding some functionality to allow BB Spoiler and Expand codes to be used - this should mean they'll hopefully be available as clickable symbols when posting.

cheers, i can tell its gonna be a nightmare to remember the code for me, and others too. much appreciated.

also what about videos? as i said, pretty much all the vids in there are classed as spoilers, is there a way they can be hidden like the text or something? i know i've seen something that hides them on other forums.

If the expand code can be implemented and it allows code to be posted within, then yes, videos can be hidden inside a collapsible box. Here's an example of expand code.

However, its also possible for the poster to simply specify that a video is a spoiler so that the reader knows not to view it.

that would be better, cos even if they say it may be a spoiler, there's still thumbnails on the videos to take into account, say the thumbnail is a supposed dead character. thats that ruined without even clicking play. just think if it applies to comments, should be videos too as this could be flaunted.

Admin has added two BB codes for spoilers to the forum.
