The show (2017)

Starring Josh Duhamel, Giancarlo Esposito, Famke Jassen & Sarah Wayne Callies

When a reality tv show contestant kills a rival contestant and her self on live tv, the shows host and an executive at the channel come Up with the idea for a new show where each week a contestant kills themself for a cause which the studio audience pledges money to. The film is an excellent if somewhat disturbing satire about what must be the last taboo for reality tv

Lady Macbeth (2016) Set in 19th century rural North East England and starring Florence Pugh in the title role as Katherine, bought into a loveless marriage who soon has an affair with her groom, but circumstances quickly escalate. A deliberately slow paced , sometimes still film with an excellent, complex performance from Pugh mixing periods of quietness with passion, determination and wilfulness as the film takes some unexpected dark turns. Good supporting roles from Cosmo Jarvis,Paul Hilton, the ever reliable Christopher Fairbank , Naomi Ackie and Golda Rosheuvel. Also starring Bill Fellows. 7.5/10

American Assassin 7/10 - very good action movie with some brutal fight sequences and a very nasty torture scene.

Lost in Translation (2003)

A faded movie star and a neglected young woman form an unlikely bond after crossing paths in Tokyo.
I haven't seen this since its release back in 2003, and I remember not being too impressed with it, but I've caught bits of it over the last few weeks on Sky, so I thought I'd give it another go. I'm glad I did, because I really enjoyed & got to appreciate it a lot more than back in 2003. I just love the relationship that grows between Bill Murray's and Scarlett Johansson's characters.

It Comes At Night

After a mysterious apocalypse leaves the world with few survivors, two families are forced to share a home in an uneasy alliance to keep the outside evil at bay -- only to learn that the true horror may come from within.

In all honesty I was a little disappointed.
I waited a while to watch this & it just seem to lack that intense atmosphere, you know....that lone fear in the dark kind of feel.(which it does have, but not enough imo)

Decent...but could have been better

Saturn 3 (1980) The title is a space station on Saturn's third moon, Tethys, where scientists and lovers( Kirk Douglas and Farrah Fawcett) are growing plants for a polluted Earth. A captain (Harvey Keitel) arrives presumably to help them, but with an eight foot robot in tow, and maybe more sinister motives. The robot, Hector is suitably sinister and is probably the best of the cast! Douglas and Keitel liked the pay cheques, I guess while Fawcett is barely adequate. Despite a run time of only an hour and a half, it soon runs out of steam in the second half with a lot of running round and rather dull action scenes. The hardware comes out best, the shots of space and various space craft are fine. Also featuring the voice of Ed Bishop. 5/10

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Arguably one of the best movie adaptations of a Stephen King story. This engrossing prison drama has become something of a fixture in most people's all time favourite film lists. It deserves the accolade too, no matter how many times it's seen. Tim Robbins is the wrongly convicted banker whose stoic attitude and financial savvy helps to get him through two decades of incarceration. This story of friendship, courage and hope is an iconic piece of film making from genre master Frank Darabont. Morgan Freeman in an Oscar-nominated role co stars; Bob Gunton, Clancy Brown, William Sadler and the late James Whitmore are also among the impressive cast. 5/5
