Mission Impossible

Classic film with Tom Cruise, really loved the music in this film. The blu ray steel book looks fantastic with its gloss finish, only have the first three films in series as steel books and the last two normal blu rays.

9.2/10.

Rebecca(1940)

A superior Hitchcock mystery thriller/noir featuring his trademark shot framing and tension building. The gothic tale revolves around a self conscious new bride, who is tormented by the memory of her husband's dead first wife. With wonderful turns from Laurence Olivier,Joan Fontaine,Judith Anderson and George Sanders.

Deadpool 2

Saw this last Tuesday, had to laugh with this woman bringing her young child to watch the film before 5 mins into the movie she legged it with her child in tow.
Deadpool is forced to try and protect this kid, throw in Cable into the mix and you have one hilarious movie.
The film is very violent which you would come to expect from seeing the first movie there are few scenes that aren’t for the faint hearted but there bloody hilarious and your gonna crack up in laughter because it’s funny and fucked up at the same time lol, also loads of Deadpool breaking the 4th wall. It doesn’t hold it punches with going after other movie franchises even it’s own. There is a big cameo from certain of people but it’s very brief blink and you’ll miss it.
A couple things that didn’t work for me a couple jokes didn’t hit the mark, the shock factor wasn’t as bad as I knew what to expect and I wished they done a little more with Cables origin especially with his comic origin maybe we’ll get something on this in the future.
Stay behind for the post credit scenes because there bloody hilarious the best Marvel post credits i’ve in years.

9/10.

Saw this iconic sci-fi film in the cinema for the first time today as it’s been re-released in 4K restoration for its 50th Anniversary and it’s even better on the big screen

Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet -- the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

The 5th film in the Jurassic Park franchise released 25yrs after the first Jurassic Park film & the sequel to Jurassic World set 3yrs after it.

Very good, very entertaining right from the very start along with plenty of scares and humour along the way along with fantastic special effects & very good action set pieces

Chris Pratt & Bryce Dallas Howard are back from Jurassic World & some very familiar faces from the very first Jurassic Park also appear & does tie into the very first Jurassic Park

A fun post credit scene right after the end of the credits does hint at where the next Jurassic World film will be set

9/10

The Hunchback of Notre Dame(1982)

A modestly budgeted TV movie directed by Michael Tuchner and Alan Hume, this time with Anthony Hopkins having a go at playing Quasimodo and doing a good job as well.Leslie Ann Down looks gorgeous throughout as Esmeralda so its worth a watch if not much else is on.

Eyes of Laura Mars(1978)

An old school tense horror/mystery directed by Irvin Kershner and adapted from a spec script written by John Carpenter.Faye Dunaway is great as a high end fasion photographer who specialises in stylised violence only to have her life turned upside down when she begins to see,in first person killings committed through the eyes of a murderer who has targeted her friends and co-workers.The tension mounts nicely to a suprise twist ending that's well worth the wait.Tommy Lee Jones also very good as a cop investigating the murders.

Solo: A Star Wars Story

Before going into watching it I didn’t know what to think of movie but it wasn’t quite as bad as I thought it would be but at the same time it’s not fantastic.
Visual the film looks fantastic along with the special effects and it’s a great use of CGI and puppets, Ron Howard did a good job with the time he had considering there previous directors were let go and having to reshoot 70% of the movie is no easy task.
The cast were good Alden Ehrenreich did a decent job at playing Han again not as bad as I thought but not great either, Donald Glover did a great impression of Lando really sounded a lot like Billy Dee Williams, Woody Harrison is great in everything he does a really talented actor, Thandie Newton did a good job as well along with Emilia Clarke and Paul Bettany.
Without giving too much away the film is a heist movie while explaining Han’s back story, there are some twists with certain characters and not just with the good guys.
The negatives the film was way too predictable, all tho Alden Ehrenreich does his best as Han he doesn’t act like him sometimes you see hints of it and then it’s gone again and I have a hard time believing he acts like he does in the movie and by the time you get to New Hope his that character, all tho a very talented cast big the names here a lot of the, were wasted with either not enough screen time or no back story to flesh out there characters, also pacing issues though out.
By far the most annoying character is L3-37 and even the way she looks you can clear tell that they had a agenda with this character and it’s not in a good way. Certain scenes that happened were a bit dumb especially one scene with Han and Ql’ra at the beginning. Sometimes it felt like they were trying too hard to nudge you about future events and certain set pieces felt lacklustre and didn’t pay off.
There is a cameo of a character and when you spot who it is yeah it’s the same person playing the character. There is fun to be had with the movie but just felt like a film we didn’t really need Han character worked when his past was a mystery. If your unsure about the film either wait till there showing it on a cheap day at the cinema or wait for a rental.

6.9/10
