The Silent Child(2017)

Oscar winning short film starring the gorgeous Rachel Shenton as a social worker who forms a strong bond with a young,deaf girl after being assigned to teach her sign language only to then disagree with the girl's parents as they opt to stop the lessons in favour of speech therapy.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Reruit

Starring Chris Pine, Kevin Costner, Keira Knightley, Not only does Kenneth Branagh play the main villain but he also directs the movie too.

Sicario 2:Soldado 7/5 - slow burning but decent sequel.

Diner(1982)

Barry Levinson's directorial debut sees him use memories from his own youth as inspiration for this touching and funny portrait of a group of guys moving awkwardly out of their teens as the 1960s are about to dawn.With fantastic performances from Daniel Stern,Mickey Rourke,Steve Gutenberg,Kevin Bacon and Timothy Daly.

Cujo(1983)

Another animal attack film from Alligator director Lewis Teague.This time based on the novel by Stephen King.A friendly St.Bernard goes on the rampage after contracting rabies from a bat during a heatwave and ends up trapping a mother and child in their car.Tense and frightening in places with a good turn from horror regular Dee Wallace.

The Breakfast Club (1985)

Five high school students, each of them representing a different social clique, spend a Saturday in detention. Over the course of the day they overcome their differences and mutual dislike and discover their outlooks on life are very similar. By the end of the movie they have formed a close bond. The audience gets a real appreciation of what life's like from a teenage perspective - something that director John Hughes made a career of in his films with other examples including Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986), Sixteen Candles (1984), Weird Science (1985) and Some Kind Of Wonderful (1987). A touching and amusing drama that remains one of my favourites. Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, Anthony Michael Hall, Paul Gleason and John Kapelos star. 4/5

TAG 7.5/10 - a group of friends have spent the past 30 years playing a game of tag and going to extreme measures to make sure they are not it. Some very funny moments and great one liners make this the best comedy i have seen in a long time.

Skyscraper 6.5/10 - the rock is usually the go to man when you a good action flick, but this is a bit too derivative of other far better movies such as Die Hard and The Towering Inferno. Still its an ok way to spend a couple of hours.

As Good As It Gets

I’ve forgotten how good this film is haven’t watched it in ages and for me one of Jack Nicholson best roles, along side a fantastic Helen Hunt, Greg Kinnear and Cuba Gooding JR.
Nicholson plays Melvin Udall a obsessive writer who loves to offend, repulse people and doesn’t are who his aiming at when he does it, Nicholson was perfect for the role and his charm and humour oozes out the character. Kinnear plays Simon, Melvins gay neighbor who is always on the receiving end of Melvins out burts along with Gooding JR Simons partner again Melvin is on his case too. Hunt plays a waitress who serves Melvin and she’s great in the role it’s the relationship between Melvin, Carol, and Simon that makes this film so great and blossoming unlikely relationship between Melvin and Carol and the friendship between Melvin and Simon. It’s the transformation of Melvin that is so heart felt and so moving.
Not only is this a feel good movie but the humour is so on point, it’s not very often I give a film such a high mark but it’s well deserved and earned, I highly recommend watching and owning this movie. There’s a cameos from the late great Harold Ramis and Shane Black. Nicholson and Hung deserved there Oscars for this movie.
