The Return of Frank James(1940)

A fantastic western from Fritz Lang starring Henry Fonda in terrific form as Frank James, out for revenge on the men who killed his brother Jesse, after they are set free. The underplayed tension is built up with the help of a great score to a satisfying payoff. Jackie Cooper,Gene Tierney and John Carradine are all excellent as supporting players.

Inside (2016);

As a huge horror fan French horror for me stands head & shoulders above everyone if you like your horrors shocking/ unnerving & type to get under your skin variety.Films like Martyrs,Switchblade Romance,Inside,Frontiers etc are just a few of many if you don't mind watching films with subtitles (unless you are fluent in French of course).

This film US remake of the brutal but brilliant French horror (of the same name) which was released in 2007 & in over the thousands of horror films I've watched the 2007 original still holds the mantle as one of the most shocking films I've seen content-wise (& believe me I don't shock easily).Inside is a part home invasion part child abduction about a heavily pregnant mother named Sarah who at the start of the film is involved in a fateful car-crash that see's the death of her husband a mere week before Xmas and whilst her baby survived the accident Sarah suffered permanent loss of hearing .

The film then skips a few days to Xmas day with Sarah still traumatized with the loss of her husband with her baby letting her know he/she are ready to see the the outside world with the occasional labour pains kicking in.On a rainy Xmas evening Sarah receives a knock on the front door from a distraught woman asking for help & whilst Sarah reluctant to open the door let alone help the distraught woman cuts a menacing tone to her voice when she states to Sarah that she knows all about her expectant baby & that she wants the baby for herself. The film then takes a home invasion turn when sinister woman makes every effort to break into the house & kidnap the baby.

The real shocking aspect of this film is that as with the 2007 original version is based on a true story in the US in where there have been over 30 cases of infant abductions whilst the mother is still pregnant of which nearly all of the expectant mothers don't survive the attack.

The main crux of the problem with US version of the film (compared to the far superior French original) is that it has been heavily stripped/watered down in terms of gore, overall shock value & with a completely different ending to boot.An okay film on it's merit but as a remake it's a bit disappointing.

US Remake;4/10 Original French Version;8.5/10 (watch this version instead).

Professor Phillip Goodman devotes his life to exposing phony psychics and fraudulent supernatural shenanigans. His skepticism soon gets put to the test when he receives news of three chilling and inexplicable cases -- disturbing visions in an abandoned asylum, a car accident deep in the woods and the spirit of an unborn child. Even scarier -- each of the macabre stories seems to have a sinister connection to the professor's own life.
Definitely try and have a bang on this movie...worth a peek!

The Accused (1988)

One of Jodie Foster's finest hours is a harrowing tale that lasts long in the memory. The film tells the story of a woman who is gang-raped in a bar and the subsequent struggle that she and her attorney (Kelly McGillis) face in bringing the men responsible to justice. The final part of the movie is difficult to watch - the rape scene is shown as a raw act of brutality that hits the viewer like a sledgehammer to the stomach and the testimony in court of the main character is heartbreakingly sad. Foster won the Academy Award for Best Actress (her first of two Oscars - the other one for Silence Of The Lambs, 1990), at the 1989 ceremony in what was the film's only nomination. Her performance obviously makes this film a poignant and powerful depiction of the struggles that victims face in gaining justice for this reprehensible crime. Leo Rossi, Bernie Coulson, Carmen Argenziano and Ann Hearn are among the supporting cast. 4/5

Wind River on Netflix. 2017 film with Jeremy Renner. Thought provoking about how authorities/people treat native american Indians in todays USA.

I’ve driven past the Wind River reservation in Wyoming and it looks a shit hole. Life expectancy is 49 and 80% are unemployed yet no one seems to care. In modern day terms we’d call what has been done to the indian nations ethnic cleansing.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005)

A priest (Tom Wilkinson) is charged with homicide after a supposedly possessed teenage girl (Jennifer Carpenter) dies following a failed exorcism. His lawyer (Laura Linney) finds herself forced to re-evaluate her beliefs in order to direct his case in court. It is the performances of Wilkinson and of Carpenter that make this film. They both give astonishingly realistic portrayals of two very tortured people. Unfortunately Linney's performance came across as awkward and off-key, whilst the direction suffers from introducing slightly too many scares and jump moments, causing some of the fear factor to be somewhat subdued. However, an ending that many may not have expected and the performances of the actors playing the priest and the girl make this film worthy of a second viewing. Campbell Scott, Colm Feore and Mary Beth Hurt are among the supporting cast. 3/5

Mission Impossible III

Love this film especially the start of the film is actually the end of movie then it flashes back. Also the first action piece of the film is fantastic. Once again Tom Cruise really does love running lol. Got the Blu Ray Steel Book of the film and it looks awesome.

9.3/10.

To push the crime rate below one percent for the rest of the year, the New Founding Fathers of America test a sociological theory that vents aggression for one night in one isolated community. But when the violence of oppressors meets the rage of the others, the contagion will explode from the trial-city borders and spread across the nation.
Definitely my preferred choice out of the franchise
