Fellow Cappers & Video Makers

Hi fellow cappers & vid makers.

Over the last few months I've come to the conclusion, that we seem to be getting more and more unappreciated on this forum. I mean why do we go through all the hard work of grabbing, recording, editing, enhancing, processing, compiling, compressing, uploading, & formatting of posts. Just to get abuse, constant calls for more videos, and then get no thanks when you do post them, from the one's shouting the most for them.

Being told that all webstreams are not worth capping because there low-res crap. Which would imply that all our caps & videos must therefore be crap as well.

And after all that, who thanks us for all our effort? Fellow cappers & moderators, and a few other members who understand the work that goes into making them.

So I ask you this. Why do we bother?

I totally agree aceman, hence why i really only post a vid now if it is a genuine request from an appreciative member or members. I will carry on with my slip of the day posts and vids if i think it is worth a look, a rare nipple from a daytime girl as an example.

thats awful that you dont get the respect you should for your hard work making videos, as i imagine its quite the bother to make em and get em uploaded.

but thats not your fault, you can only cap from the stream put in front of you and if its crap its crap.

lolz what i find funny is people complain that the quality is shit but want an hour long cap @ less than 100MB... (get a faster/unlimited connection people then you can have quality)
if i grab a vid i thank the poster. but you cant seriously expect us to thank u for stuff we dont grab...

yeah we know theres some effort in getting them but its your choice to do it, and you shouldn't bother if your feeling unappreciated.

take a break from it... let some 1 else do it for a while, you have earned the right to sit back and relax for a while.

I posted a video 19 days ago, it has 20668 downloads yet the post its in only has 29 thanks

Where's the post and I'll be happy to press the thanks button, if I haven't already....

I come from the sharing community, so I'm pretty used to it. People just like to take these days, they think its their god given right.


But I enjoy giving something to the forum so I'll carry on regardless

Um... I do some of those...
I know for a fact that the few vids that I've posted look shit, but that's probably down to me not really knowing what I'm doing. I hope to slowly pick things up as I go, although I generally stick with pics anyway.
Nonetheless, I know that all videos take time, for all of those stages mentioned above, so I always thank someone if they've posted a vid, or caps, although I very rarely download them.

I hardly go on the "Sky Channel only" threads, so I don't see (or therefore thank) caps or vids on them.

It is nice when lots of people thank a post, but then some threads are more popular than others, so not everyone sees it.

Some people never thank any posts, regardless of content, but that's their prerogative.

I'm inclined to agree with HEX!T here, whilst I always try to add thanks for the effort of any caps/videos posted - and not exclusively just the ones I like or download - it is the choice of cap/video maker to continue posting. Whilst it's always nice to get thanks, that's not why I continue to post caps; although if I never got any thanks, or very few, I would just stop. I think it's also too easy to read things into the number of thanks you get, take the funny caps thread for example, a single cap in there will get pretty much a guaranteed dozen thanks minimum, regardless of quality - whereas a dozen quality caps in another thread may get less, I think that's just the nature of a forum with many areas and threads.

The last thing this place needs is to go down the porn-forum path of annoying needy posters demanding thanks and sulking or leaving when people don't climb up their ass in admiration for their 'magnificent' efforts. Of course what we also don't want is a culture where everyone feels they have to hit thanks button regardless for any post with a cap or video, it's like those couples who say 'I love you' everytime they see or leave each other - it all just becomes meaningless if it's not used in a genuine appeciative fashion.

Just out of curiosity, I went back to my caps of Alice's last three night shows (they were easy to find thanks to my sig) to check how many thanks I got.

July: 28,24,36 and 42 thanks
August: 42,46 and 43
October: 36,34 and 34

Now I know that it was just after the August show that Alice's Night Show Caps and Vids thread was made members only, but that's still quite a drop. You would have thought that if people are going to the trouble to sign up to the forum and get access to those caps and vids, then they could at least click the thanks button. At least some of them take a bit of time to post and say thanks. Despite the ungodly hour, it's very much still in my plans to watch and cap Alice tonight/tomorrow morning, so we'll see how many thanks those get.
On the subject of the Alice Goodwin group, I'm quite interested in how many members it has, and how many of those have a post count of zero.

A step I took recently to reward the thankers and not the lurkers was to send any nipslip caps I managed to get via PM to the first five who thanked my post. I was certainly not surprised at the identities of those thankers.

OK, back to the question of why we bother. Well, getting messages like this certainly helps:
