RE: Celebrity Juice
Celebrity Juice is the funniest thing on television in my opinion, but I digress.

The fact that the babeshows are classed as shopping channels and therefore have different rules may well be the case, but it's still incredibly annoying that such blatant double standards and hypocricy exist. The babeshows may well be 'shoping channels', but the type of 'shopper' watching IS NOT going to be offended by bad language and explicit nudity. It's ridiculous to the extreme! If Ofcom had anything about them, they would create a whole new channel classification called Adult Shopping Channels, in which the normal regs do not apply. Some will now argue that they do, and that the babeshows already get away with far more than regular shopping channels do. But this only goes to prove that Ofcom recognise that these channels are aimed at adults, so why not go the whole hog and give them their own classification?? To insist they come under the same class as shopping channels is just Ofcom's way of ensuring they can impose their ridiculous regs on them.

RE: Celebrity Juice
Its nothing to do with being shopping channels. The same restrictions applied when they were classed as editorial. These days Ofcom claims advertising rules prevail, but they used to say there was no editorial (plot) justification and anyway Ipcris rules prevent swearing and sexual content being used to advertise premium rate phone lines.

The trouble is Ofcom goes out of its way to look for reasons why it can ban something.

It is a complete travesty of British justice for the same body to make the rules, initiate investigations without complaints, investigate, prosecute, judge and impose sentence.

As Stan says Ofcom should recognise that Babe channels are a separate category. I suggested as much in consultations over Teleshopping rules Babe and Psychic channels. Babe and Psychic channels are completely different from the likes of The Shopping Channel that advertises tangible goods for delivery. A Babe channel delivers fleeting product on screen or as a phone chat. But theres none so deaf as them that dont want to hear.
