RE: Porn Filters
You do realise we live on planet earth right?
Everything is virtually regulated, like it or not,it is what it is.
If your not embarrassed to admit you watch/view adult content, the opt in button is no real big deal, well not for me anyway.

RE: Porn Filters
Yes, but it isn't going to work is it. It just isn't. Kids wanting to see porn will easily find a way to bypass it. Who's paying for all this? How much is it going to cost the taxpayer, are the ISP's footing the bill for this worthless piece of legislation? It's all clearly just for show, so Cameron can be seen to be doing something to placate the slavering Daily Hate Mail mob. As for the child porn / blacklisting 'horrific' search terms in Google thing, what a joke. The kind of people who look at those images are not the kind of people who go to Google and type 'show me child porn' are they. It's all bollocks.

RE: Porn Filters
Which is exactly vic why the watered down piss that we see currently on our late night babe channels and subscription channels will soon be applicable when it comes to what we us adults choose to watch on the web.

You're right, they'll not stop there, anybody who thinks this is just in denial and doesn't want to hear the truth.

Take a stand now against this legislation. Just wait until Sexstation TV is under heavy regulation as will everything that we currently take for granted.

Fact - Ofcom want full control over the internet and this government is prepared to pander to the minority and give it to them Important

RE: Porn Filters
My problem isn`t opting in or out of porn, it`s the problems that folk who DO want a filter on will come accross. The most innocent of searches and websites will be blocked. What happens to fans of Arsenal or Scunthorpe football clubs? Remember the EPG fiasco from Virgin (or Sky can`t remember) when shedloads of word were starred out as offensive. The filters will block out so much that those wanting it will end up turning it off to stop the hassle and we`re back to where we are now and they`ll be looking for the next step of controls.

If a video of mine doesn`t play, please change filename by adding .mp4 to it

RE: Porn Filters
for the usual paranoid people who think the governments priority is to stop them getting their porn

http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/13222 <- "freedom for adults to make informed viewing choices"

which is exactly what you now have!

RE: Porn Filters
yeah that will be a problem robby for those who want the filter on and can see it making a lot of people turning off the filter. other things need to be done as well as the filter to make sure only adults get access to porn, like improved age verification system for adult websites

You've totally missed the point here. I also am not too embarrassed to admit that I like to view adult material on the internet. On this point where I also have a problem with is just why the fuck should I have to opt in to it in the first place. What ever happened to the word privacy which goes hand in hand in a free democracy.

The likes of Norton Security already offer this service so why does an option have to now become government policy. This is a violation on our civil rights and freedoms.

Why should I have to disclose to a third party that I wish to view porn and also why should we trust the third party either. My business is my business and nobody elses. It's about fucking pride and I value mine aswell as my right to me anonymous.

You do realise also that once you have opted in to porn your name and ISP Address will be monitored by yes a complete stranger. Your business is your fucking business, nobody's else. I rest my point Important

What would be good to see,is all those making noises against these changes posting pictures of themselves petitioning downing street and or lobbying their local politicians, taking out full page adds in National/Regional papers about their discontent.
I look forward to seeing thisWink but I won't be expecting it,It's easy to talk a good game online.

You do realise that this probably happens anyway? sites such as google monitor everything you do - ever noticed the clever advertising which happens to be advertising items similar to search terms you have recently made?

As for disclosing to a 3rd party you wish to view porn, your doing that anyway, by your own admission you have Norton anti security and have turned family filters off.

As for your voilations of civil rights and freedoms, do a little research into other countries internet censorship we have it good, your just being asked if you have kids in the house you dont want viewing adult images. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_ce...by_country

RE: Porn Filters
Blocking something that's legal to view crosses into a whole different territory, so realistically they can't take it any further.
I was thinking about the search issue earlier, if they intend to blacklist certain words/terms, then what about people who've suffered child abuse or rape, does that mean that their online support groups and forums will be blocked because the things they may be discussing could fall on the list? Tricky.
It's gonna be tough to monitor and get right, but those people who have called for this have to except what's put in place, nothing is one hundred percent safe, they have to pick up where this falls and actually make sure their little darlings aren't finding a way around the filters.
