i abhor the term soccer in 'most' cases but in dan's defense alot of irish call football soccer due to Gaelic football being referred to as football.

I usually call it football just a slip of the tongue, but sometimes I have to call it soccer when I'm talking about Gaelic football with my friends, so it doesn't cause confusion

haha yea. We've had some bad luck, but really, we're just not as good as we think we are. Never have been. Every tournament the media gets the fans into a frenzy, which i suppose is their job, then when we fail it's all a big crisis. When i was younger i used to get really stressed out about it. I remember when we lost to France in the last minute in 2002 i basically started a riot in a pub. lol i was such a wanker.

These days... ehhhh... couldn't really give a shit. Obviously i want us to do well, but it's folly to get hyped up about England.

Quite frankly I'm appalled and saddened by some of the posts in this thread.

I can understand people picking teams other than England if they didn't have the good fortune to be born English but there are English people, that's right English people, picking the Germans.
