Wild about nature

For about 35 years now I've had an interest in birds/wildlife-so thought I'd share with you some of the things I've seen on my travels.

This pics of an adult Squacco Heron that I saw at Welney, Norfolk, July 1st 2012. Theres been about 145 of these in the UK.

Golden Oriole, Snettisham-May 2nd 2012.

A summer visitor to the UK, getting a lot rarer these days.

On June 27th I made a visit to Cley marshes, Norfolk, where the UK's 75th Pacific Golden Plover was on show. No pics of this bird, but some youtube video was made available. Not an easy bird to identify, I take my hat off to whoever ID'd it.

Spent some time watching a pair of stoat at Flitcham Norfolk, great little animals, though you wouldn't want one up your trousers

Not with a Stoat, though a Weasel tried once.

Bugger, theres a rumour of a Hudsonian Godwit in Cheshire-I've not seen one of those, and it's a working day tmrw

These are pictures of wildebeest and zebra being attacked by crocodiles as they cross the Mara river.

I'm not a fan as such of seeing animals being killed or hunted, but these are pretty good pictures.

Those pictures of above of the wildbeast and zebra getting attacked by crocodiles as they cross the river really put life into perspective if you're an animal. Real life or death situations virtually every second. Just making it to the next day seems like a miracle it seems. Really does put life into perspective.

Especially when we are sat here chatting about girls on a TV that means absolutely nothing at all.

Saw these two birds recently in Norfolk and Kent over the last couple of weeks...the first is a Bluethroat...stunning...not as stunning as Abbey B this morning though



Then this Dusky Thrush...the first one to be seen by a crowd in the UK since 1959, worth the trip to Margate, Kent
