The only way Andy Murray wont win it, is if they're SURE he's going to win Wimbledon in the future.
I doubt they're that sure, so he's nailed on to win it. Don't forget that, along with winning his first major, he also bawled his eyes out after losing the Wimbledon final.
He was probably nailed on to win it after crying alone Wink

In Olympic year it will be an olympian who will win.
The bbc will always promote the sports they have the tv rights to.The Olympics were their biggest shellout so they'll shortlist the percieved most popular olympic gold medalists .So take your pick from :farrah, ennis ,wiggins ,brownlee etc..Murray and Mcilroy will just be added on to the list to broaden it.An olympian will win..

Just slightly off topic I can remember campaigns from the lesser sports of fishing and motorcycling urging the readers of angling times and whatever mag bikers have they should vote for Bob Nudd (?)and Carl Foggerty in seperate years.
Motor Cycle News just come to me.Anyway it did'nt get them a result .

RE: BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2012
I think my top three would be:

1 - Bradley Wiggins
2 - Mo Farah
3 - Andy Murray

The Olympics were always going to dominate the year's sporting achievements. With such a fantastic atmosphere throughout the summer, it was very difficult not to get swept up in it all. The greatest show on earth delivered, and then some - and Britain's athletes embraced the Olympic fever and turned out some outstanding performances. I'll hold my hands up - I was sceptical about the popularity of the games, but my fears were swept aside almost immediately. Wiggins and Farah were just two of the golden boys, producing a legion of fans and creating whole new trends such as the 'Mobot' and the 'Wiggo sideburns'; Murray of course played his part too - not just in the games but the US Open win is special. Fred Perry's record stood for 78 years, but no longer.

There's of course so many others who I could choose - Jess Ennis, Ben Ainslie, Chris Hoy, Laura Robson, Laura Trott, Vicky Pendleton and so on - the list is an arm long. I reckon the above three just shaded it for me though.

I am not really on here to talk about non babe matters but I will make an exception in this case. IMHO the title should be BBC Most Popular Sportsperson of the Year. For other awards substitute Best for Most Popular.

To me the principle of trying to choose one sportsperson across such a variety of different sports in fundamentally flawed. All the nominations and a lot who have not made the list have been exceptional in their chosen sports. At the end of the day it is a popularity poll.
