RE: Sherlock
Saw the BBC 3 re-run tonight and I was a bit disappointed with this to be honest.
Good knockabout comedy between the two leads (and ladies) in traditional "buddy movie" fashion - so fine if the thing is really just supposed to be a sitcom; but frankly the story was hokum : a string of unconnected set pieces and a last minute levered in "terrorist plot" that was frankly completely implausible : worse even than something "Spooks" would have come up with in its most desperate later series; and hello V for Vendetta anyone ?.
And terrible cop outs at the key critical "tension" moments : both the resolution of the "terror plot" and the "how did Sherlock fake his death" questions : all very well for the writers to make a running joke out of theories as to how Sherlock survived the last series, but frankly if you're going to do that do you not have to come up with an explanation(s) better than what they actually did ?
As one of the characters said on screen fairly early on : "Bollocks".

RE: Sherlock
I can't argue against the thin plot, they did well to fill 90 minutes with what they had.Hope we get more content in the second of the three shows on Sunday.

RE: Sherlock
Let's hope so : can't help feeling 90 minutes is just too long for the material :
imho you need a decent feature film idea/structure to fill that running time.

RE: Sherlock
Just got caught up with both shows last night. I liked the first two series but the New Years show was a complete cop-out in that they didn't reveal a plausible explanation of how he survived. They should have got that out of the way at the start and left more time to develop a decent plot for the bomb story.

Then I watched Sundays show.............bladewave ffs, that's 90mins of my life I'll never get back. It was actually painful to watch in places, it's like the characters have developed into caricatures of themselves.

^^^^ Oh dear, haven't seen it yet, was going to watch the repeat tomorrow night, though wasn't "wowed" by the trailers.
We've already done the "comedy Dr Watson stag night/wedding/honeymoon" stuff with Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr on the big screen haven't we ? ( I actually quite enjoyed those films) Don't tell me the TV version is just a contemporary version of that ?

Hmmm... is the Emperor's New Clothes syndrome finally catching up with "can do no wrong saviours of TV" Gatiss & Moffat? They're really comedy writers at heart aren't they ? Certainly beginning to look like it : a bomb with an off-switch ffs.

^^^^OK , watched the repeat of second episode of this new series on BBC3 last night after a couple of drinks and got to admit it was pretty funny.
But it's not really my idea of the programme as it was from the previous series. Really is turning it into a comedy programme now.
Hoping their holding back a good solid "serious" story with some proper mystery/tension/drama for the final episode.

RE: Sherlock
Finally got to watch the final episode of the current series, must say i was very disappointed in not just this storyline but the entire series. The revelations about Watsons wife were just too far fetched.

RE: Sherlock
I have to agree with some of the comments episode 1 & 2 were ok,but the final part was a step in the right direction.Just three episodes is way too short a run.
