Engadget don't like redirects. I've had the same problem before. The article in 301's second link is the top result from this search.

Fearsome articles.

Pmsl that Mindgeek want to greylist twitter from April! laugh That would be the best thing to ever happen as regards binning this shit Bill. The shit storm would be immense. So of course they will be quietly exempted. bladewave

Well at least the other twin pillar of iniquitous legislation is being chipped away at some: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/11/...cj-defeat/

Government proposes BBFC as new age-checking pornography watchdog

By Alexander J Martin, Technology Reporter

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) will be responsible for ensuring online pornography websites are verifying the ages of visitors.

New laws passed as part of the Digital Economy Act will require websites hosting pornographic material to verify the ages of visitors from the UK or face being blocked by internet service providers (ISPs).

In a proposal announced by the Government on Thursday, the BBFC's experience in classifying age-rated content will help it regulate whether websites are verifying their users' ages.

Under the new law, it will be insufficient for websites to simply ask visitors if they are over 18. Instead pornography consumers will need to verify their age, most probably by confirming their financial details.

The minister for digital, Matt Hancock, said: "One of the missions of age verification is to harness the freedom of the internet while mitigating its harms.

"Offline, as a society we protect children from viewing inappropriate adult material by ensuring pornography is sold responsibly using appropriate age checks.

"It is now time that the online world follows suit. The BBFC are the best placed in the world to do this important and delicate task."

The law has drawn concerns from privacy campaigners, pornographers, and cyber security professionals.

Following on from the usual doom laden survey by the NSPCC (it's almost as if someone instigates them to put the bullet in the chamber for the government's use Rolleyes ) - some more background to the current campaign against social media...

Another lobbiest to the dcms here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgmwIU4D...e=youtu.be

These lot want to aid Age Verification and filtering in the Digital Economy Bill by creating a global standard meta header flag for all uploaded video. Stick with this incredibley dull sounding women as she outlines her plan for world domination; the interesting stuff on semi-automated recognition of the individual's attributes and the rest begins about half way through.

God save us from these apparent worthies who are giving us all this stuff for free... oh apart from the lovely twopeneth they'll be getting from advertisers who want to upload anything. Oh look we've invented another way to make money whilst protecting kids - now isn't that a bonus! bladewave And look we've also collected socio-demographic data for some reason not particularly relevant to what I'm trying to put over on this video. That's handy. bladewave

I came across that safecast stuff a while back. Can't for the life of me see how the hell they expect that to gain any sort of foothold whatsoever. Do they seriously think that every single video currently available on the net will suddenly be resaved to include their headers? Yeah right, that's really going to happen, cloud cuckoo land or what!

RE: Internet Porn Site Regulation
the identity/credit card checks need not happen. if no 1 signs up, the channels will have no option but to take the government to court for limiting a legal businesses ability to make a profit if they get blocked.

Teresa may has overstepped her purview on this 1 because the majority of uk households donot have children.
so she is literally spanking all the kids in the room because 1 of them was naughty. im pretty sure this is actually illegal as your being censured for something you haven't done.
simple facts we all seem to have forgotten. when you buy a mobile, sim or Internet, the parental lock is enabled. this immediately stops access to most adult websites. you have to call and prove your age or be the billpayer to get the block lifted. and thats all it should be...

basically may is saying all adults in the uk should hand over there bank details/driving license or passport details to some of the most skeezy businesses in the world. who often steal content and allow them to identify you, pair up your details with your porn history, your shopping history and so on. all while selling your data to 3rd parties... she claims this wont happen but all you have to do is look to 2015 hack of yahoo where over a billion accounts were compromised with 2 seperate hacks, to see that 1s you hand over the data it will be accessable and exploitable by criminals sooner or later.

so say no to the signups and see what happens.

EDIT!.----
oh and yeah i know for sure our data wont be secure as i know a guy who got access to all the private vids on ph (the owners of ph are being considered as the ID verification service) without joining the owners private viewers lists. (the bypass has since been closed) but it still stands as proof that PH isnt as secure as the gov would have you believe or need it to be.
