The big problem with these was that they seemed to need to stop at Midnight dead for some (no doubt legal) reason. It's a big thick to go "Wow, coming up are our headliners the Killers... for all of 20 minutes" annoyed

Much better was Stretch & Bobbito - Radio That Changed Lives, which was on Film4 last month and might well come around again before too long. S&B were 2 guys in NY who had their own once-a-week radio slot, Thursday nights 1-5am, where they plugged the hip-hop scene and gave opportunities for Fat Joe, Jay Z, Nas and plenty more. This film covered their heyday and the inevitable end, though they have recently reformed for a show or two.

Hip-Hop Evolution, a fun 4-part series partly made by that Sam Dunn guy who did an 11-part series on the evolution of metal a few years back.

BBC had some new docs on Eric Clapton and Duran Duran last weekend which might be on iPlayer.

Caught up with the TOTP effort on 1986, which was fairly fun from the performers and miserable from sourpusses DJs, who all seemed to hate presenting the show because it featured people they didn't like. Was it really worth acknowledging Love Can't Turn Around, just so Gary Davies could tell some sneering anecdote about Darryl Pandy? I note the accompanying hour of hits covered some of the stories the doc missed, such as Five Star, but perhaps they're saving Pet Shop Boys up for 1987 or 88?

Pink Floyd fans should be tuned to Sky Arts tonight and tomorrow, mostly repeats, but there does seem to be a new doc on maverick producer Ron Geesin amidst it all.

Yeah 87 and the Actually album is where they really took off with its a sin and what have i done to deserve this then 88 with always on my mind

Although I prefer the first album with west end girls Surburbia and Oppurtunities

amazing to think there best stuff is over 3 decades old

Caught up with last months' docs on George Michael, which were fairly decent, particularly the rundown of his most popular songs. I've still not accepted this idea that Praying For Time is his John Lennon tribute, any more than I believe Heal The Pain is meant to be his Paul McCartney moment. I'm sure people might have mentioned this in 19-bloody-90 when the record was released, but maybe I just didn't notice then.

Reginald D Hunter's Songs of the Border
Another solid doc like his "Songs of the South" series from a while back. Fun to see that Arizona already has a border wall, since this has been a policy of the previous 3 US Presidents.

Disappointed that Showcase have finally stopped showing the Cherry Red chat strand. Admittedly they seemed to just repeat the same shows ad nauseam (Jack Bruce died years ago, FFS), but they were still pretty good.

Vintage TV seems to have snuffed it too Sad
