Sorry, guys, this is not a technical problem, this is an issue with the international copyright law that prevents it from being broadcast outside the UK.

This rule works both ways - it is why, for example, if I logged onto Duna's or TF1's website and tried to watch your countries sports programmes online I would get the same message.

There is a way to get around it by setting up a proxy server which effectively fools your computer into thinking you're in the UK. I'm sure if you go on to Google you'll find the answer there in how to set it up in your country.

OK - so her in Ireland I cannot watch the webstream on this site due to copyright law but am able to do so from the Babestation/Sex Station sites? Does copyright law not apply to them?

'Copyright law' implies that a rights-owner does not want their material to be made available without their permission which I doubt would be the case with the Sexstation stream. The issue with not being able to view the stream outside the UK is so more likely a case of broadcast regulation and not copyright as Britain has a lot of fine print in it's regulation that now covers web-sites as well as tv & satellite broadcasts.

As for the ability to view a show or not from a particular location, your locale is normally determined by way of where your IP address is registered (or that of your ISP) and the associated geo-location data that is why using a proxy sometimes works as a get-around.

If you find a proxy that is sited in the location that is allowed to view the content ie. a UK proxy to get the stream for you, you may be able to fool the location check into thinking you are in the UK and let you view the show.

Using a proxy doesn't fool your pc into thinking it is in the UK but rather you access the stream via a system that is actually in the UK and so the streaming source allows you to watch the stream as it doesn't know that you are really elsewhere using a go-between.

One problem with all that though is that a lot of free proxies are configured to not allow streaming data due to the additional load caused by the constant throughput. Also a lot of the servic providers that run the streams use a constantly updating location check system that receive updated lists of suspected proxies as well as the normal geo-location look-up data and as such might still deny them access to the stream.

There are also a form of proxy called 'transparent' which behave as if they aren't there and so your real location is still determined correctly as the way the proxy behaves it is as if it isn't there and you are connecting directly to the web stream service (hence the name 'transparent'). They often work by passing on information about the origin of the original data request (your pc and it's address data) and so the stream server/service is still able to work out that you shouldn't be allowed to watch the stream.

At the end of the day just because you are using a proxy, free or commercial, it doesn't mean you can always work around location checking technologies.

The webstream is freezing a lot this morning (11.15am)
Its been a long time since it was as bad as this.
