Sad news, quite young as well. Still he was a lucky bugger being married to Sarah Greene every school boys dream at the time.

Yes, this is sad news and at only 59.

He stopped broadcasting after the tragic death of Michael Lush, who died in a bungee jump accident on 'The Late, Late Breakfast Show' in 1986.

The day after the accident, Mike Smith cancelled his show on Radio 1 and concentrated on his aerial camera footage company.
