What a good start to the European Championships...

Seven medals, including four gold. When have we suddenly started to be a force in athlectics again.

I should really be thanking all the guys who put their money into the national lottery, and have helped fund this resergance

With 5 gold medals on the last day proved that Team GB & NI are the best in Europe.

We finished with 12 golds in all.

Yesterday Farah shattered Steve Ovett's 36-year-old British record over two miles at the Birmingham Grand Prix.
His time of eight minutes 07.85 seconds blew the middle distance great's mark of 8mins 13.51secs out of the water.

The double Olympic, world and European champion's time was also a European record. But the distance isn't run that often

I bet Steve would be the first to acknowledge Farah as being a versatile great. If he broke the Great North Run record that would show he could break records from 3000m up to the Marathon in the next few years.

Actually Mo has all the British records from 1500m up to everything apart from the Marathon.

Justin Gatlin has won the Diamond League for the 100m after winning the final round in Brussels with a season topping time of 9.77 seconds.

I haven't felt as depressed watching someone win a sporting contest since Vinokourov won the Olympic Road Race in London.

Watching a two time drug cheat run away from the field in both the 100 and 200m was as laughable, in this case in not a good way, as pleading that a masseuse had rubbed testosterone into your buttocks.

Either let all athletes take whatever they like, and damn the consequences, and everyone knows or preferably lifetime bans for those who are twice convicted.

Kenyan runner Dennis Kimetto today set a new world record for the marathon of 2:02:57 in the Berlin city marathon. This knocked 26 seconds off the previous best.

Dina Asher-Smith has today become the first British female sprinter to break 11 seconds for the 100m.
She clocked 10.99 seconds in the heats of the Anniversary Games inside the Olympic Stadium in London.
