RIP Acker Bilk

I was very sad to hear the news today that legendary jazz clarinettist has passed away at the age of 85. The reason I'm sad is because his music brings back the memories of my late mother who passed away 10 years ago. Whenever she was in the kitchen cooking the dinner she would very often have Acker Bilk playing away on the stereo. His music always rekindles these fond memories for me.

Acker Bilk will always be synonymous with 'Stranger on the Shore' for me. Another recruit for the great band in the sky - may he rest in peace.

I play the Clarinet learned at school. My Dad had his records growing up. Fucking legend.
