Don't think that statement was totally pointless even if he were wrong in regard to your affiliation with Man Utd.
There are plenty of people who live over here who support various American football teams. If for example you grew up watching American football and supported the patriots I'm sure the Americans would find that a lot more reasonable than bring born and bread in georgia and supporting them.
Like wise with the football. I think if you live in Australia or Ireland for example and support Man Utd that totally reasonable. Even if you are a born and bred Londoner it's fine if you support Man Utd if it is passed down through the family.
It's the people who are born and bred londoners or other areas with no ties to Manchester what so ever, that support Man Utd that are most people's target for ridicule.
I have a very close friend who supports Man Utd. He would not be able to point out Manchester on the map. Believe me we never get tired of reminding him that, especially after a few pints. The fact that 1) he never gets defensive about it and 2 he passionately supports his local team Concorde rangers saves him from further ridicule!!!!!!!!!!

I on the other hand use to support real Madrid but they were crap last season now I support Barcelona!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joking aside I have supported WestHam all my life and have suffered 4 relegations with them. Not won a trophy for 35 years. Part and parcel of being a football fan.

In all straightness mate, how many United games gave you actually been to? I bet you I've got more cows than the number of times you've been to Old Trafford.
I have been too many times to remember how many, first time being in 1975 when we were in the old 2nd division. Of course having no idea how many cows you own I cannot say if I have been more times than the number of cows you have.

MU didn't want to sell De Gea. RM let Ramos lead MU on for ages including letting them think it would be a two way transfer while they sorted out a new deal, and have been tapping up DG for months along with Mendez to the point he refused a contract and said he wants to leave. But RM didn't put a bid in until the last day so they could get him on the cheap and didn't sort out the Navas side of it. Whoevers statement you believe, MU owe them nothing & can afford to lose £20M. If RM had really wanted him, they would have paid the price weeks ago. It would serve them and DG right if he spent the season in the reserves & loses his place in the Spain team & then finds RM don't want him anyway.

re West Brom / Spurs
Spurs left it too late & Peace has said from the start that he wasn't selling as it was too late to replace him. Spurs have carried on and tapped up Berahino to the point he put in a transfer request. It was refused & he's still under contract. Even if Peace would have sold, Levy's dealings have been rediculous - not meeting the asking price and his best offer was a minimal downpayment with add-ons. If Spurs had really wanted him they would have paid the price weeks ago. As for Berahino - if he doesn't want to play for the club he's (well) paid by and contracted to, he shouldn't play for anyone.

So two wealthy, top clubs - RM & Spurs both fucked up transfers, and both unsettled players because they didn't want to pay a fair price but wanted to try to screw the selling clubs & buy on the cheap. Neither have any Class & both deserve what they've got.

And once they've finished their hissy fits, I hope DG & Berahino realise how little RM & Spurs thought of them, that they weren't willing to put in a fair bid in time for the deals to be done - thats how much they were wanted.

Thats His side of the stoy the other side of the story is that both partys wanted a deal including pulis himself and it was him who wouldnt give spurs a price at which he was comftable selling at. it was the chairman who made the bids public.

this wasnt a last day deal this had been going on all summer get a feeling it was a how big is my dick contest between Peace and Levy with the player and clubs in the middle of it

^You may be right mate, sure you know more about it than me, but not so much biggest dick as biggest bank balance. Did Pulis want Berahino to go before he'd been tapped up and put in a request? Seems to me both clubs would have got their man if they'd put in bids of £28M cash or so on 1st August instead of this routine of unsettle the player, get him to put in a transfer request and try and get him on the cheap late in the window cos he wants to leave. There's a dishonesty about it that I don't like (I'm sure there's rules against it) and ultimately neither got their man cos they were trying to save themselves around £7M. Thats what the players should think about, not that their clubs wouldn't sell them.

I personally think that transfers should be abolished Sports must be the only sector where a business pays another business when they want to recruit there staff

Adebayor said he needed a message from God to leave White Hart Lane. Praise the Lord, it's finally turned up...

Haha nothing new in people using god as excuse for their actions in football. I remember Glen Hoddle saying he left Swindon for Chelsea because god told him to. I thought it was the fact that Chelsea were willing to pay him 5 times more than Swindon to manage them was the reason for his decision. But than again what do I knowHuh

It looks like you've lost that money, as Real Madrid have said they aren't going to appeal to try and get the transfer through as they think any appeal would be pointless.

Agree with you there mate and the money involved is obscene.
But in lots of businesses, when staff reach a certain level - especially in sales & more senior management, they have contracts and are tied to 3, 6 or even 12 month notice periods - which generally means if they get poached by another company, they leave immediately and have an extended period of 'garden leave' when they see out their notice & aren't allowed to work for anyone else. It does sometimes happen that someone 'buys out' their contract if they want to leave early (ie armed services) and I guess thats basically what the transfer fee does.
Yet to be seen but DG & Berahino could effectively be on garden leave for a year... or at least til xmas.

RE: Transfers, Summer 2015
In American football they do trades instead of transfers. The thing is they have a pool of college players to draft in. The can use that as a bargaining tool. For example if someone wanted Tom Brady from the new England patriots the patriots could agree in exchange for a line backer and first second round draft choices for next 3 years. I wonder if a trading system could work in football.

RE: Transfers, Summer 2015
The Berahino saga has been going on for a while now, ever since he was called up for the senior England team, he decided then that WBA was not a big enough club for him and he should be playing for a top 6 side. Understandably Pulis does not want someone who is not fully committed to the team playing for him, if Levy had simply met the asking price when he first enquired about him then a suitable replacement could have been lined and Tottenham would have their man, instead he tried to get one of our best players on the cheap and pay for him in instalments. I would much rather the ungrateful little twat had gone and Charlie Austin bought in, at least he would give 100% and not throw his toys out of the pram. WBA are a very well run club they make a profit every year and do not have to sell their best players on the cheap, Berahino should be left to rot in the reserves.
