Cloud ads

Any one know how to get rid of cloud ads from google chrome,driving me nuts.

I used adblock plus until they changed their policy a while back, then a fork was released, adblock edge.
I'm using ublock on firefox right now, also available for chrome (check the extension store thing).

I also use a customised hosts file, there are several sites out there with lists that block most of the major ad sites and instructions on how to set it up for various platforms.

This combo seems to block most ads, but there are some sites that will install something on your pc that 'changes' a web page to include ads directly. Had that happen a couple times on my XP box, took a while to figure out what was going on at first, how were these ads getting through, but easy enough to clean out once I realised what was going on and what the malware actually was. Mainly targets windows, so doesn't affect my main pc.

better to use adblock rather than adblock +
adblock is the original and isnt supported by advertisers who pay to get there adds white listed by adblock+
i also use ghostery i dunno if its avialable for chrome as i use opera but then again opera is now a chrome based browser so it should work on other chrome based apps.

For a while adblock plus was the 'better' version of adblock, but that has certainly changed, I jumped ship as soon as they added the whitelist. I think I went back to adblock for a while before trying ublock.
Ublock uses lists like the hosts file lists, it actually uses the same lists. I believe adblock does similar, but ublock has more activated by default. That said, ublock has its faults, with a couple of leading devs jumping ship for unknown reasons, leaving the official version short of devs, particularly on the firefox side. I currently use ublock-origin which is a fork maintained by the lead firefox dev who bailed out, but still maintains his version independantly (this version avalable from the official firefox extension site).
