George gave us one of TV's most loved characters, Arfur " my word is my bond" Daley. My condolences, to "er indoors". R.I.P. George.

George Cole had a 70 year career in showbiz. He started when he was just 14 under the guidance of Alistair Sim who he appeared alongside in those 'St. Trinian's' films of the 50's.

He will be best remembered for Arthur Daley (a role he didn't really like at the beginning) in 'Minder'.

Didn't he & Dennis make a hit single? And you have to wonder how many 'Arfurs' there are out there?

But they couldn't get away with remaking Minder" now in this day and age

Btw what was the Welsh copper called? - I thought the actor who played him was brilliant!! Scenes between him and Chisolm were classic!!

RIP George Cole. Those minder repeats on ITV4 are as funny today as they where when I first saw them in my schooldays.
