A great singer and Guitarist and at 67 way too young loved "The Heat Is On" which I think was his biggest solo hit in UK

He died of complications following recent surgery

The musicians who went on to form The Eagles were originally Linda Ronstadt's backing group and Frey played keyboards and guitar, as well as sharing the vocalist duties.

I was a huge fan of The Eagles and Frey sang the lead on some of their classics such as "Take It Easy", "Peaceful Easy Feeling", "Tequila Sunrise", "Already Gone", "Lyin' Eyes", "New Kid in Town", and "Heartache Tonight".

After The Eagles split up he had six Top 20 singles as a solo artist in the US charts, two of which got to No.2, one of them being his biggest UK solo hit "The Heat Is On" from the soundtrack of "Beverly Hills Cop" (although surprisingly it only reached No. 12 over here).
