RE: The Masters
Jon Rahm is absolutely the story of the opening round.
After a double bogey at the first hole he shot 9 under for the next 17 holes to reach -7 overall.

That is currently good enough for a share of the lead with Viktor Hovland.

The weather is scheduled to intervene over the next couple of days with persistent rain forecast.

RE: The Masters
Rather depressingly it looks like it could be a one sided Koepka victory Sad.
In the clubhouse with a 67 to go with a first round 65 he sits at -12.
No dropped shots in round 2.

He had the best of the conditions too.
The rain is now coming down and play has been suspended due to the threat of electrical storms. Nobody really making any ground on him as yet.

Edit: Play resumed for a little while but has been suspended again.
Jon Rahm has been battling hard to make ground and has closed to within 3 of the lead at -9.

RE: The Masters
In the same way that conditions can play such big part in the outcome like cricket, golf can sometimes give players an advantage with the weather. Rahm is 3 back, with 9 to play, & may not complete his 2nd round. The amateur Bennett is 4 behind, & would be paired with Koepka is Rahm falls further back. Day 3 looks grim, with a potential Monday finish. Rahm needs to get in the last group, as I see him as a player who could put pressure on Koepka.

RE: The Masters
Two trees fell across the 17th tee in the stormy conditions at Augusta.
Thankfully nobody has been hurt.
Play still suspended.

More delays on Day 3. Otherwise looking like Koepka v Rahm for not only the US Masters, but as a side issue, the soul of golf eek

FFS Patrick Cantlay, get the fuck on with it. His slow play is just ridiculous.

Edit: Congrats to Jon Rahm.
A worthy champion who held his nerve superbly in the final round.
He has had a stellar year or so and this triumph is well deserved.

RE: The Masters
So pleased for him getting the win. Maybe the biggest turnaround in fortunes on a final day since 1996?

McIlroy paired with Schauffele and Scheffler, the commentators' friends.
