seems was french ultra's and locals vs Russia and england that was disaster waiting to happen

especially when marseille is a right mixing pot of race's including a lot of arabs of north african descent

Wales' best player for me was Ben Davies - it was his goal saving clearance off the line plus several blocks in the second half which were crucial to their win.

As for England - oh well. Frustrating they can't close it out but we've been here before. Vardy or Sturridge should have been on to stretch their tiring defenders and to wrap up what should have been a win by some margin. But Roy's thinking is defensive and we don't control the ball well enough. Just keep the ball, they can't fucking score then...

Sad to hear of all the trouble involving supporters. Indeed a pretty crap night all round.

England-Russia stat note.

Roy Hodgson's team against Russia was England's youngest ever in a Euro finals match (average 25y 293d).

Eric Dier's goal makes him the first English player ever to score from a direct free kick in a Euro finals match.

The 1-1 draw ends England's winning run of 10 (won the last 10 competitive matches, the Euro qualifiers).

What's the betting that England will get thrown out of the tournament and Russia stay in? I would not be surprised if sanctions are worse for us than they would be for Russia. I strongly suspect that
UEFA would not be keen to upset Putin - they'd rather upset Cameron instead. (Another good cause for Brexit?)
Trouble is. I wonder how many England fans have gone over there not to watch the football but to pick fights in the first place. but the fact that it has been three days running trouble has flared in Marseille

Makes me wonder if these local youths have been radicalised by IS, so that IS can disrupt the tournament one way or another.

Yet we still can't win an opening game in any major tournament!!
I thought ITV's panel should have been a little more critical of the goal we conceded, yes we could take positives from the game, but at the same time surely they could see how defensive we looked in those last 20 minutes and why they didn't criticise Roy for not putting Vardy on if Kane wasn't able to do his job.

Apparently if any sanctions are issued the worst will be aimed at Russia. As for how many England fans have gone out just to cause trouble. Hardly any it seems as been numerous reports that England fans overall have been well behaved & any trouble has been England fans being targeted & attacked by hardcore Russian ultras or hardcore local Marseille ultras.
