The picture is of Greek Street and I agree with you that 1985 is unlikely. The Naked City Striptease Club was surely not there as late as that.

I suspect that the picture is more likely 1970s than 1980s.

Correct it must be the 1970s , one giveaway is the sign for Allsop Estate Agents , their West End business was taken over by 1985 and also some of the cars certain 1975

Great image though has all the atmosphere

The first time I ever went to Soho was July 1981 and Naked City was definitely not in Greek Street then.

Well I'm a bit shocked at this news. I always regarded that shop as one of Soho's landmarks. I've found an article in my local paper though which says the Vintage Magazine Shop is going to continue online.

Hello Shaun,

Some good news for you The shop is back see below
http://vintagemagazinecompany.co.uk/en/c...4-about-us

I really hope that it continues, it was an icon shop, shame it is not in the traditional location but something is better than nothing

It is the same for the ladies clothing shop Almost Famous another shop I am glad survived

Hi

I am now able to get out and about again and today I walked past the building. It became the Vintage Clothing Company and the Vintage Magazine Company went online.

The Vintage Clothing Company is no more and it looks like the builders have moved in

I really hope this does not become part of a chain like Costa

Good spot! I'm impressed with your observation skills. Could be very interesting. Important

I looked on Westminster Council's website for a planning application for this address, 39-43 Brewer St. It looks like the premises is going to become a fashion store (for a big Italian label, Fiorucci).

It wasn't a documentary on London strip clubs, as it turned out, although some adult venues did feature in it, such as the Venus Rooms which I remember very well. I enjoyed the film anyway, it was a good snapshot of London at the time, so thanks very much for letting us know about this. Cool

A friend of mine, a real old timer, says he recalls a Keyhole strip club at 13 Masons Yard (in later years this became the Director's Lodge hostess club). I wondered if this had any connection to the Keyhole Theatre you mentioned above. Possibly it changed location?

Hello,
On this by 1965 the Keyhole Masons Yard became The Scotch of St James a music venue see link below
http://the-scotch.co.uk/
The Directors Lodge still occupies the site see link below

https://worldsbeststripclubs.com/strip-c...tors-lodge

The Keyhole in Old Compton Street was there in 1962 so they are probably connected
