Hi Kev, can I ask if any of your friends remember the Casbah Striptease Club? Or the Naked City Strip Club? And possibly remember which street they were on?

Hello Elgar, Spoke to my friend, he knew the name but that was it, so he is going to ask, I will be away at the weekend and will come back with the results Monday.

In the meantime via Google found Naked City, if you have not seen the U tube worth a look and it has the Naked City at 1 Min 06 Sec I thought it to be Walkers Court but friend says no, so still unsure of location

I know about the Casbah Club in Liverpool, where the Beatles played, but the Casbah I'm referring to was a Soho club (although coincidence or not, both clubs must have opened at about the same time).

The Casino de Paris closed in 1977. It opened the same day as the Raymond Revuebar did in 1958, so it had a good run of 19 years.

Hello Elgar,
On Naked City, my friend has been talking with some of his other club mates and everyone has an opinion, so nothing agreed yet.
On the Casbah this is also ongoing, on the image the guys have done the following
A) Downloaded it
B) Enlarged it to its maximum size possible without causing distortion
C) Looking for other give-away clues
So on this we have the men’s barber, problem is lots about in the 1960s/1970s
Behind the lamp there is a sign Sola Betts Google yields nothing
There is the sign for an Italian Café but in those days there were several along with similar French places
However what does look promising is the space between the Striptease sign and the gentleman’s shoulder, is trees. The guys think this may well be either Soho Square or Manchester Square.
They also feel that the lamp and the pavement mosaic could still be in place.
Therefor tomorrow I have been asked to visit Soho and walk along Old Compton Street and up the various streets leading to the squares to see if any of the landmarks are visible.
I will update on my visits Tuesday, this is the thing I like the digging and running around, it will be good to get the answers in the end.

That's great work by your guys, because I think somewhere near Soho Square is very likely. They are on the right track!

I would rule out Manchester Square though, because the Casbah was always advertised as being in the heart of Soho.

I have been up this morning and I am still none the wiser.
First problem is the mosaic street has been replaced all round Soho so see if you can add value on the images below

Attached are two images of both Frith Street and Greek Street paving slabs look to be recent, say last 10 years, No wrought iron but look at the trees, some similarity to your image but not conclusive. My friends are of the opinion that Greek Street it is for the Casbah
So what are your feelings, I have also been into Soho Square the other street leading off is Carlisle Street and never in a million years could it be the one. So any ideas welcomed

On Walkers Court please see the remains of a Casino De Paris poster attached. Work has begun on the redevelopment, my original post related to your poster of the club, somewhere else on the site are two pieces of corrugated iron with your poster split in two. These posters must be at least 40 years old
