Sky customers to lose Discovery, Eurosport etc

This has been kept very quiet. As the majority of my viewing is Eurosport I'll be cancelling if this goes ahead.

I think I know one person who'll be cancelling his SKY HD sub.... My dad only watches Eurosport & Discovery; other than the old shit he could get on Freeview for bugger all.... He ain't gonna keep it just for 20 Live F1 races for sure.

only just seen basically Sky trying to reduce the amount it pays discovery because they spent to much on trying to keep Premier league football

must admit im starting to get sick of Sky actually considering moving to virgin

It looks to me that they are both play brinkmanship.

Sky need the Discovery group, mostly because they have the European rights to the next olympics.
But Discovery need Sky because of the advertising revenue that would be lost if they didn't continue.
It reminds me of when Tesco refused to pay extra to Unilever last year.

I reckon it will only end up in court
and UI doubt if Sky would be interested in that process happening

Ofcom are in the process of putting together a landline and broadband switching service.
This would help if you are changing supplier but may not help if you are just cancelling a channel
Imagine Ofcom doing the job that they were actually set up for.

Yes and they are also putting their broadband and phone prices up. I've just received an email telling me that Sky now require an extra £4.09 a month from me. I only hope they don't put Sky TV up as well, if there's no Discovery anymore.

I've cancelled twice in writing in the past when working out of the country for a while. Both times they confirmed in writing within a few days and I stopped the direct debit on the agreed date.

If they call and try to bend your ear, they've confirmed that they've received your letter and you stop the DD 31 days later.

You can also cancel by email these days so your 31 days notice will start even sooner.
