Colin Dexter, author, best known as the creator of Inspector Morse, has died, aged 86.

The books are excellent.

Another somewhat inevitable one given a high age, but no less sad for that. RIP Sad He'll be buried 6 down & 3 across (or something).

Did not read the books but watched Morse on TV and enjoyed very much.

The telly versions often differ wildly (Morse drives a Lancia in the early books, for example). Also, there were loads of telly ones, and only around 13 books.
