Premier League Prediction Thread 2017-2018

In all honesty, I thought somebody would have started a thread.

I mean the three months between my last post in the thread when I announced the final standings and then announced my intention to step down because of work commitments - that in my opinion was an ample amount of time for somebody or a group of people working together to create a thread. Even if they didn't post it, they could have created a draft and saved it, then edited it before the season, so that it was ready for posting come August.

But for whatever reason, nobody seems to have the availability to come forward and start a new thread. I sympathise with people who feel sad that the competition has seemingly come to a disappointing end, I'm one of them. But the reality is that we're going to have to accept that it has. Until someone or some people are willing or available to come forward and start it, we're not going to get a prediction competition. That is a real pity, because this competition has been a mainstay on this forum for many years.

I'm going to miss it this season if it doesn't happen, I've enjoyed participating in it for the last decade or so on this forum. But I simply can't run it for this season. I don't have the time or opportunity. I would have participated as a player and I wish someone was able to run it - but alas it seems to not be the case.

That's my last word on it. If someone starts it in the next few weeks, great. If they don't, the brutal reality is that we'll have to wait until next year to see if there's any chance of this fun competition being ressurrected.

I am now considering the possibility of stepping forward to run this thing.
I would not have originally intended to do so for all manner of reasons but exceptional circumstances being as they are I may decide it is possible for me to do so.
Please allow me some days to work out whether this is feasible and also how I can successfully achieve the task at hand. One thing I have experience of is running comps but I want to make sure I can do this justice first as Regen would be a very tough act to follow after doing an immaculate job last time.

Thank you for your kind offer babelover48. Running comps is a bit of an 'it's my baby' type thing in my experience. Ultimate Babe certainly felt like that when I ran that. I relinquished that comp at the right time for the right reasons and Winsaw has successfully taken over.
I had a format in mind before my initial post for this comp. It was just a case of working out whether I would have the time to do all the counting and stuff factoring in my work committments.
I have concluded it is feasible and workable to do so.
The weekly ranking lists and overall ranking lists will be kept very simple.
The scoring system will be pretty much the same with one additional feature.
There will be one slight change to the nature of prediction submission rules which I will detail in the launch post tomorrow evening.

So while I am very grateful for the offer I would respectfully say I would like to run this myself.
