RE: Favourite Star Trek Episodes
Watching the DS9 reruns on SYFY. One very underrated episode was season 2 Necessary Evil. A marvellously film noir episode with our first real feel of life aboard Terok Nor (DS9) when it was under Cardassian rule, especially seeing Gul Dukat in arrogant full authority. I loved the contrast in shooting colours when switching between past and present. The final twist to tie up Odo's unsolved crime investigation was very satisfying and a moment in his and Kira's relationship.

Moving into season 3 and some of my favourite episodes yet to come. Looking forward to, as already mentioned, Improbable Cause which at the start gave little indication of the massive 2 parter it became with The Die is Cast. Big for Odo and Garak's relationship too.

Just rewatched Voyager's "Someone To Watch Over Me", don't think a Star Trek episode EVER caused my household to simultaneously laugh so much. Trek's finest attempt at romantic comedy, about the last thing you'd expect from Voyager. Picardo and Ryan excelled with Seven's dating attempts, whilst still being entirely true to character. Even the secondary plot with the repressed ambassador suddenly unleashed to the horror of Neelix was gold lol

RE: Favourite Star Trek Episodes
Have been binging TNG last couple of days just watched "The Hunted" the episode where an escaped genetically enhanced soldier is captured & detained by The Enterprise only to escape again in a bid to win his freedom from his home government. At the episode's climax, a Mexican standoff between the soldiers & the government, Picard challenges them on their casting aside of these men. A presumed minister of the government twice says it was "the will of the people" before revealing there was a referendum. Bad decisions based on the back of referendums & using "the will of the people" to justify it hits pretty close to home.

If that wasn't enough the next ep, The High Ground, where terrorists who travel by dimensional jumping kidnap Dr Crusher, as I was writing the first paragraph Data reviewing the history of Earth mentions The Irish Reunification of 2024 !!!

If i could find a girl that had the looks of Gal Gadot, breasts of Sophie Mudd with Demi Rose's ass, the personality of Jessica Ennis, the grace of Kendall Jenner on the red carpet and then behind closed doors the raw sexual energy of Nicole Snow i'd know i was dead and gone to heaven, so i'll just take Demi Rose's ass and Nicole's sexual energy

I remember hearing that this episode was heavily edited, for original release and subsequent years after, to leave out those mentions for Irish and UK broadcast. I was born in 88 so I only ever watched TNG in repeats, I never actually knew about the edited episode until about 5 or 6 years ago. I think it was a YouTube video about "10 most controversial moments in Star Trek" or something like that.

Here is an article about it after some quick googling Smile

Star Trek Voyager Ep 5 “Non Sequitur” Season 2

Harry Kim wakes up back on Earth after a transporter accident aboard his shuttle. It seems like he has the perfect life hid back with his GF Libby and working as engineer for starfleet.
Kim knows he doesn’t belong and founds out he got turned down to be on Voyager and someone else ends up on board. Then there’s mystery cafe owner who’s clearly hiding something. Kim gets help from Tom Paris who didn’t end up on Voyager either. Without spoiling too much you find out what’s going on a great Ep and highly recommend watching it.

I see the DS9 reruns on Syfi have circled around again. Season 3 ep 7 "Civil Defence"

"Bajoran workers, attention....." This seems to be a rather marmite episode. Was it rather contrived or improbable? Of course. Do I love it? Yes. An enjoyable romp with the station in danger from a hidden Cardassian computer program. Especially when a swaggering Dukat shows up only to get hilariously cut down , his bickering with Garak was gold. That was DS9's strength, the characters which can overcome any plot.

P.S. This was followed by the rather mediocre Meridan. The main story with Dax's romance was a dull fest but was saved by the B story with Quark attempting to 'satisfy' the rich perv Tiron's obsession for Major Kira in a holosuite lol. I think this was actor Jeffery Combs first role in his talented multi-character Star Trek career.

RE: Favourite Star Trek Episodes
Last night I watched the TOS episode Patterns of Force (2x21) where they turn up on the planet of Nazi's & some of the similarities between this episode & the Tarantino (A Star Trek fan) movie Inglorious Basterds are striking.

Kirk & Spock, in an attempt to reach the planet's Fuhrer, sneak into a high profile media event with the help of a celebrity individual (who looks a lot lite Diane Kruger) posing as her cameramen. They are later aided by a high ranking security member of the regime who turns out to be a double agent & Kirk & Spock's initial attempt to infiltrate the Nazi HQ is thwarted after an error made by Spock when using a hand gesture just lie Fassbender in the bar scene.

Star Trek Voyager Ep 18 “The Darkling” Season 3.

The Doctor decides to try and improve his bed side manner by incorporating character traits from different historical figures into his program but also ends up getting negative evil traits as well resulting in totally new evil personality think of it as a Jekyll & Hyde Personalities. Brilliantly acted by Robert Picardo with the two very different personalities.
