John "Motty" Motson to retire at end of season

Motty's last ever commentary this after in the Crystal Palace v West Brom match.

I wish him well

He will be missed. No one else can hold a candle to him.

Met him once in a restaurant a couple years really nice guy and took few mins of his time to speak to me. Will miss his voice and commentary.

Nice bloke 'n all, but he was no Barry Davies

Watched the Man Behind the Sheepskin doc from Sat night, which was fairly decent, and then the countdown clips show which slightly over-egged the "unique magic" angle because here was a man clearly both a nerdy statto, and also a cold-blooded smooth operator.
