It looked as though England were going to post a sensational score after reaching 267/1 in the 38th over, but instead they are going through a sensational batting collapse. Watching this innings is a surreal experience.

A weird innings from England, finishing on 335/9, but in the end 335 is a strong total anywhere. Still it's not 400 which they looked like getting, nor 380 which looked like the minimum at one stage, and only Curran taking 18 off the last over allowed England to even reach 335.

New Zealand managed to win with a couple of balls to spare
Mostly due from a fine innings by Ross Taylor (I always thought that he was past it ) and some bad fielding by the England players

They went from heroes to zeros annoyed

New Zealand recovered from 93/6 to finish on 223 all out in 49.5 overs. Despite the decent recovery it's hard to see England failing to chase this total down, as it looks to be nowhere near enough. Barring the kind of collapse that England suffered in the last match, I would expect this match to be won with a lot of overs to spare.

England easily reached the target and won by 7 wickets. Bairstow hit a fast century.

The 1st test starts tonight from Eden Park Auckland.
There's an expected return for England allrounder Ben Stokes

RE: New Zealand v England 2018
England team: Alastair Cook, Mark Stoneman, Joe Root, Dawid Malan, Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Craig Overton, Stuart Broad, James Anderson.

No room in the side for Vince, who was unimpressive in the Ashes series and was lucky to be picked in the first place, so Root bats at No 3 and the returning Stokes bats at No 5.

New Zealand won the toss and asked England to bat first.

RE: New Zealand v England 2018
England's lowest ever test score is 45 and that looked as though it was going to be beaten today. Only 33 not out from Craig Overton at the end of the innings took England past that score. 58 is merely England's 6th lowest ever total.
