There's even the snippet of Youtube of the very scene:

I don't mind admitting that I had tears in my eyes when this first came out and I saw in at the cinema.

(I am a little ashamed of the fact that I just got a bit misty-eyed when re-watching it in that youtube clip. But c'mon, man ... he catches a chicken!!)

One film I remember watching where I didn’t cry but people around me did was Star Trek 3 Search for Spock, the part when the Enterprise explodes and goes down to the Genesis planet in flames. Granted I liked watching the Star Trek movies but witnessing that kind of reaction from people was a real experience.

I had a similar experience at primary school when we watched The Never Ending Story(1984).It was an end of term fun day with no lessons a few years after the film came out and at least ten of my classmates were crying during the scene when Atreyu's horse dies.
(Sorry I forgot that lancelot790 had mentioned this on page one).

Inside Out was on this evening (and Big Hero 6 the other day, coincidentally). Both films have significant thematic moments where a loveable character dies. However only in Inside Out does this reduce me to tears SadshockedSad

IO is a lot better film than BH6.

I was surprised at yet another Disney film FROZEN had death at the very beginning but most Disney cartoons seem to have that as part of its theme. Didn't cry when I saw it on Sky but you do get a lump in the throat even Big Hero 6 where the main character's brother is killed off. Not sure how you explain this to a youngster, but even something as sublime as The Snowman or The Snowman & the Snowdog(without ANY dialogue) can convey sadness and happiness but that is also the music used. I defy anyone not to feel emotional at the end of The Snowman or great joy at the end of The Snowman & the Snowdog.

I think the Snowman's sequel's ending works as effectively as the original, even if its overall not as good.

Frozen is screwed up, for all that it's a good effort.
