Video Game of the Year 2018.

With Christmas done & dusted for another year & Santa on the lookout for another job in the New Year (until Dec 2019) aside from the mince pies,left-over turkey what has been your favourite game/the Christmas Cracker of 2018 in what has been another great year for gaming.I've compiled a list of my Top 3 games but I've also included my worst game/the Christmas Turkey of the year as well.

Top 3;

1)God of War (PS4);

I'll be the first to admit that when I heard that the game makers were ditching the usual hack & slash style game in favour of an RPG Dark Souls style I was a little under-whelmed but having put in 40+ hours into this game boy I was wrong.GOW isn't just my game of the year but is probably the best single player game I have played in a long time & graphically one of the most impressive. Gamers beware-this game is huge with vast maps & Realms to explore with loads of side-quests, challenges,bosses & swaithes of enemies to cut your way through.This game is so immersive time & hours fly by,I'm a little over 40+ hours through & I'm not even halfway through the game (only Zelda Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask come the closest on that scale) where daring to explore areas of the maps opens up whole new worlds with challenges & quests awaiting.The games main character Kratos has always been a marmite character despite being a God he is also an arrogant ass-hole to boot but even though he has a side-kick in his young son Atreus who assists throughout the game Kratos' coldness & lack of humanity towards his son at times would frustrate even his biggest fans.

2)Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4);

Probably one of video games most eagerly awaited sequels (8 years since the original RDR) the wait was well & truly worth it.In terms of game size this comes in at a monstrous 105+GB & eats into the memory of your hard-drive [/php]but when you see the attention to detail in the actual game from the details of the characters to the lush scenery & landscapes & scale of the map you can see why.Much like GOW this another huge open-world game that cries out exploration to unlock side-quests & challenges in a game which riding on horse-back,robbing banks & trains & playing as an outlaw in the 19th century has never felt as good.

3)Forza Horizon 4 (XOne);

Getting away from the hustle & bustle of playing as a God or even an Outlaw hitting the top speed in a huge landscaped area in one of your favourite souped-up sports cars the like that only the over-paid Premiership players can afford.Project Gotham Racing was always my favourite racing game franchise but as they are no more Forza have stepped up-to the plate big-time in probably Forza's best game to date.


Worst Game/Turkey of the Year;

1)Fallout 76 (PS4/XOne);

Whilst Fallout 3 (PS3/X360) was by far the best game in the series Fallout 4 was another good open-world game let down with dated graphics I was never going to be sold on the Fallout series ditching the whole single player mode thing instead moving into an Online multiplayer.When reviews for the game came in scoring below 50% across the board the game I kind of envisaged being bad ended up coming to reality.I did get the mis-pleasure of playing the game on a work-mates PS4 & where the graphics are pretty much last-gen quality the open-world map I explored was pretty much dead (hardly any other online players playing which is what the game is all about).

No Spiderman? Most of the streamers i watch rated it higher than RDR2.
Must admit, i have n't played any of the games you mentioned, i'm still trying to get my moneys worth out of Destiny 2 and all of the expansions plus the annual pass i payed for... Maxed my warlock, and 649 on Hunter and Titan

My number 1 for the year has to be 'Total War: Warhammer 2' (technically a late 2017 title but ya know)

With 'War Thunder' a close second given its many developmental progressions through the year.

From what I've played of it Spiderman would be 4th on my list & I've played about 4-5 hours of it so far & really liked it, tbh whilst the fighting style is very similar (which is no bad thing) it unfairly seems to be compared to the Batman Arkham games (which are probably the best super-hero games overall).I'm the type of gamer that plays 2-3 games solidly until completion of one (then erase the memory on my hard-drive for space) then add another game & so Spiderman is at the top of my backlog pile & gets the full playthrough when GOW or RDR2 is completed.

I think the complaints about RDR2 are the control layout that in the usual Rockstar Games fashion takes a while to get used to & probably isn't the best (like in the GTA games).

Only one i have bought and thats Far Cry 5

loved it played a couple of times

For me Super Smash Bros Ultimate for Nintendo Switch.
