It is a exceptional example of modern day marketing. Pressing buttons on both sides of the debate to ensure maximum coverage and exposure. It is shameless commercialism vaguely disguised with a supposedly progressive message. It is pompously righteous; intended almost solely to provoke. Gillete will ride the resultant publicity for all it's worth. For all the boycotts there will be many more ways the company will benefit in the other direction. All from a multi-national who already have an iffy ethical background themselves... You'll forgive me I don't applaud too hard. bladewave

The ad's content might seem vaguely fair on the surface but dig closer and you begin to see skew. The 'toxic masculinity' bit is particularly interesting in that it is used in an apparent quote from a news or current affair programme - the audio somewhat buried in the soundtrack as if they are almost unsure whether to put the phrase front and centre. It is pure hiting of the buzz word without actually fully prescribing to it. Nice disengenious work that.

Modern day masculinity isn't, despite all the preaching in the ad, inherently anything. The truth is each personality trait that is said to form the masculine can be characterised as a positive or negative. It is the way it is PORTRAYED that skews it to a negative. There's a name for material that does this sort of thing, it's called propaganda.

In RL it is up to the individual to stand up for the right vision of masculinity. Generalisations and broad pastiche as here are bound to be inaccurate and unhelpful; the exact stereotyping in fact that we are supposed to be standing against in this day and age.

You two do realise that just by being on this forum, you are as 'toxic' as anyone to the people that buy into such terms.

The ad might hold all the threat of a wet lettuce but it's undeniable that all inhabitants of a forum such as this are one of the targets of such a piece. It is not insecurity that prompts guys to challenge such hypocritical commercial opportunism but incredulousness at its acceptance - how its source and validity goes unchallenged by the mainstream media.

The idea that the babeshows "are not that deep" is driven by those that don't wish to acknowledge how much effective customer service and a consideration of psychology impacts users' future interactions.

that's a straw man argument. this forum is not toxic. everyone here knows why they are here. the girls aren't exploited and nobody is doing anything they don't want to do.

He's not saying the forum is toxic Terence, but that the proponents of 'toxic masculinity' as a thing that exists and needs destroying, will perceive this forum as toxically masculine.

I know that. You know that. But those that use the toxic term would disagree with us everytime. And you must know that dude.

If you are saying such a thing exists you are having to stand by all its tenants - one of which is that women in the adult industry are oppressed, the guys that view them are objectifying them and are thereby contributing to generalised toxic masculinity and the harassment of women in modern society.

Can't see how that's straw man.

I suspect I'm the only person on the planet who hasn't seen this ad but I don't think I'll be taking too many lessons from a company owned by Procter & Gamble who buy Palm Oil from suppliers with form for using child labour.

Only 3 things in life are certain. Death, Taxes and lesbians will never look how they do in porn movies.

thanks, i misread the post. funnily enough, i would say the exact same thing to anyone outside the forum who said this place was toxically masculine.

My god, I thought it was supposed to be us millennials that were the triggered snowflakes but the vehement opposition towards this advert is putting the so called PC Brigade to shame. I make an appeal to the moderators that this thread be moved to the joke section because I cannot remember the last time I pissed myself laughing this much. Imagine being so triggered by an advert that advocates for people to be better that you would stop using it's product. I can't even

The truly amazing thing is that you admonish the PC Brigade for how they react to aspects of our society and culture but react in the very same way when it comes down to you. There seems to be a lack of awareness here, an awareness to ask the question is this how these snowflakes feel when it's them? Is this how they feel when they find something racist or sexist or homophobic or transphobic ?

To all those who oppose the PC SJWs and their movements and also oppose this advert because it negatively stereotypes men, you have completely and utterly lost all credibility on this subject you haven't got a single leg to stand on and to continue to engage in the conversation in the same manner only seeks to embarrass yourselves further

Here endeth the lesson

If i could find a girl that had the looks of Gal Gadot, breasts of Sophie Mudd with Demi Rose's ass, the personality of Jessica Ennis, the grace of Kendall Jenner on the red carpet and then behind closed doors the raw sexual energy of Nicole Snow i'd know i was dead and gone to heaven, so i'll just take Demi Rose's ass and Nicole's sexual energy
