You shouldnt laugh at this stuff! My neice has Tourettes and it physically hurts her when she tries to surpress it! In certain situations she has been beaten up by people who shes said something offensive too even though she cant help but say it! Walk a mile in her shoes and see if you still find it funny.....Next time a black guy walks past you shout "Nigger" at him and see how he reacts.....then imagine trying to deal with that every day of your life!

RE: bbc1 right now
I watched the original when I was a schoolboy and obviously ignorance of the condition made it hilarious.I have since watched the 2002 follow up and seeing the young lad nearly broke my heart.Such an amazing boy and it's great to see that his condition has been accepted by his peers and he can probably live as normal a life as can be expected. This is all down to the bravery of the original guy,John,I think in making awareness of the condition, through the documentary, much more prominent.
The one thing I will say though is that for all it's positivity,I found the three documentaries, especially last nights one to use the swearing as a punchline to too many of the scenes. When a scene would normally end without incident would have been more natural but it seemed every event had to have a swear word or 'tick' before the next scene began.
The odd nervous giggle when first seeing this programme is understandable but when you get to know the inner turmoil of the sufferer and the vice-like grip the condition has on them you must feel nothing but admiration for the way they have to live their lives.

Am sure nobody is laughing at the condition itself, rather the remarks it makes these people say. if i saw a guy in a pub with tourettes i'd talk to him and have a laugh with him, while most people who don't want to offend would move away. trying to suppress something that you genuinely find funny isn't healthy.
