RE: European Super League
Oh it's a bold cold move by the billionaires but the way the Premier League, UEFA amd FIFA are suddenly standing up for the fans is quite nauseating, it's always been about the money with them too. Only the Bundlesliga can really speak, fans ownership and say so (despite one or two cases) is built into their model. Unlike the Premier League.

The Super League club owners are an arrogant bunch alright but they're also smart to get where they are, they must've done all their homework legally before announcing this. Can you ban players who are leagally contracted to play for their clubs?

Try and work out the England team without the big sixes players.
Apparently - according to some lawyers - the governing bodies haven't got a leg to stand on with this argument. mind you lawyers seem to find a multitude of ways of reading the law differently one to the other

Wasn't the Premier league a breakaway league for the same reason?? OK retained
promotion and relegation, but ensured the haves would have more??

It'd force the FA to actually look at all clubs for the players more than now so not a bad thing really.

More importantly, hasn't B Johnson not got enough to do with the pandemic etc - it is called government business Boris, than concerning himself with this?? I wonder how inclined he would be to intervene if cricket/rugby etc were 'threatened' in the same way??

To hear so many overpaid/overindulged prima donnas of a bygone era talk about greed as if they were concerned about it, and the disparities with the common man and their pittance for much harder work, would be amusing if it wasn't so pathetic!!

Greed in football??... Hmmm who knew??
Cricket has to deal with the Kerry Packer circus, rebel tours to South Africa, (which many England players took part in) and think there were several rebel tours of Lions to South Africa. I would say the IPL wasn't liked at first but is now is embraced by cricket fans.

There is a meeting of the PL for tomorow with the other 14 clubs of the PL and the big 6 are not involved.

RE: European Super League
The rot started way back when sky bought the rights to the new premier league back in may 1992 in a £304m five-year deal out bidding the bbc and itv. Even Alan Sugar wanted sky to win it, maybe because his company amstrad was doing the sky dishes for them.

The fans I remember then had a little moan but not enough, when sky started to do pay per view stuff on boxing even though they were showing it by subscription you had to pay extra for big fights then like Mike Tyson when he was big. Sky even tried to buy Manchester United but failed, just shows how greedy sky are and wanted more which they did and got the rights to the Champions League.

It didn't help when Roman Abramovich and the Glazers came along either it started all the big clubs being sold to rich owners. The blame goes to the FA as well when it had the new plans for football before the premier league started they should have said no to sky then. I'm sure sky will show the european super league even more money for them.

RE: European Super League
Football long since turned into a bloody great big gravy train.
Money is power. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The Premier League is a gravy train to the point where clubs are more concerned about finishing in the top 4 or not getting relegated than winning cup competitions.
Teams that get relegated from it then try to win races against the clock before the parachute payments run out Rolleyes.
European football and international football is even more of a gravy train.
The wealthy European clubs with the audacity to effectively want their own closed shop is predictably vomit inducing in its scale of repugnance.

The gap between the haves and have nots in football continues to grow.
The so called big clubs don't care even though they might claim they do.
Same applies to The Premier League, UEFA and FIFA all of which stink to high heaven of self serving bureaucrats interested only in lining their pockets and building power bases.
UEFA and FIFA have bare faced cheek in the light of countless instances and allegations of bungs and corrupt tournament hosting bidding practices.
Football is consumed with self interest on the part of those far too few that dictate the structure and pattern of it.
The monster is threatening to eat itself alive.

Depressing times indeed.

RE: European Super League
The Liverpool team are going to take some stick tonight.

The Leeds fans have been showing their displeasure by chanting at the coach as the Liverpool team arrived.

There's a large banner on the Elland Road ground saying 'Earn it on the pitch. Football is for the fans.'

And a light aircraft has just flown over the pitch with a banner on the back 'Say No to Super League'

Boomer gets everywhere. Wink
