The first quarter-final saw Zhao Xintong lead John Higgins 8-4 at the last interval, but John rallied to lead 9-8. Zhao made a solid break to take it to a decider, but after an intense safety battle, John got a good chance and went on to win.

More drama on Day 2, when Neil Robertson reached a 7-0 lead, before Mark Allen retaliated to trail 8-6. Neil then took it 10-6.

Blimey doodle I hadn't realised Neil was 7-0 up I switched on around 7-4 8-4 thought it was closer towards that point glad in the end Neil got over the line he just seems to go awol at certain stages these days

I was pretty amazed too. Just as well, a closer gap and Allen might have got him.

Ronnie v Mark Williams today, again reasonably close.

Mark battled to a decider, his work on the colours in the penultimate frame was quite superb.

The final quarter-final proved the most surprising, as Luca Brecel beat Judd Trump 10-6. He'll play Higgins next tomorrow, I think, with Robbo v Ronnie today.

Luca levelled at 7-7
John finished it 10-7
