K Williamson didn't exactly pull up any trees with his batting display in the warm up match. Coming in cold from the IPL may not be the wisest decision he ever made. I hope for the sake of the series he is able to run up a few decent totals, but it shows that you can't mess with cricket (IPL isn't cricket) or it will take a huge lump out of your ass. In a sense, Williamson has treated this series as a bit of an inconvenience (same with IPL england recruits) and that to my mind is unacceptable as a leader in general, and - in particular - a leader of the world champions which should mean as much - if not more!

^^ The debate on whether the IPL is cricket, is open for debate, what isn't in doubt is that Test Cricket should come first. The IIL isn't going away, a new 5 year TV/ media deal is up for grabs with the promise of more matches. Trent Boult arrived late from the IPL, which has put his inclusion in doubt.
